Antigua St John's - A fall-off in passengers has led to the Montserrat ferry being reduced to two days per week. A release from that island's Ministry of Communications, Works and Labour said the change was necessary because of the very low volume of passengers currently travelling and likely to travel during the first quarter of 2012.
The decision will be re-evaluated at the end of January.
The ministry said, "The costs of operating the ferry are substantial and to a large extent are not being met by the low volumes being experienced."
It said the public should plan to travel in keeping with the schedule of services by sea and air.
