Passengers aboard the Seven Seas Voyager missed the chance to explore Antigua after the ship cancelled its scheduled call on Monday. President of the Antigua and Barbuda Cruise Tourism Association (ABCTA) Nathan Dundas told Caribarena the captain of the ship, Gianmario Sanguineti, reported that there were operational issues.
The vessel, part of the Luxury Line Regent Seven Seas Cruise, was scheduled to be in port from noon to 6 pm.
“The Seven Seas Voyager has a capacity of 700 passengers, however even though it’s not one of the larger cruise ships calling on the twin-island state, its spending capacity is considered one of the highest in the cruise industry,” Dundas told Caribarena.
The ship’s cancellation reportedly left many cruise stakeholders, including taxi drivers, vendors, and store owners in Heritage Quay disappointed.
The Voyager has a 59:1 space guest ratio, one of the highest of any cruise ship.
