Barbuda Steals the Spotlight

Pristine Barbuda BeachAntigua’s sister Island Barbuda steals the spotlight this winter with full page spreads in two well-known travel publications. Over 700,000 combined readers of Caribbean Travel and Life and Dreamscapes will pick-up their winter 2009 copies of the respective magazines, and open the pages to be mesmerised by the turquoise waters of Barbuda and its powder white sand.

“Your eyes widen and your mouth falls open and you zombie-walk toward that wildly luminous portal of blue and white.  You stagger onto the sand and blink into the sunlight, looking up and down and left and right in unmitigated astonishment,” remarks Caribbean Travel and Live author upon taking his first glimpse of the beach at Low Bay.

And while Barbuda steals the Spotlight the Light House Bay Resort equally impresses the  Caribbean Travel and Life author, who raves about the amenities the resort offers and gives kudos to resort chef Lennox Cadogan.

The Frigate Bird Sanctuary, and coral reefs great for snorkelling are also mentioned in the piece.
The Light House Bay resort
Colin James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority says: “We are delighted at this excellent coverage on Barbuda which is fast becoming a popular destination, known primarily for its remoteness and absolutely stunning beaches. The Lighthouse Bay presents a niche product  that appeals to holiday-makers who prefer to stay away from crowds and enjoy nature in all its unspoilt glory but still within a luxurious setting.”

In addition to the glowing reviews given to Barbuda, Caribbean Travel and Life and Dreamscapes, also features Antigua, for those more interested in an energetic vacation.

Readers of Dreamscapes will learn about activities to engage in while in Antigua.  These will range from the off-the beaten-track hike through Wallings Forest to sightseeing tours to English Harbour, Nelson’s Dockyard and Shirley’s Heights.

The author further entices readers to visit the destination with mentions of the neatly-tucked away Hermitage Bay located in the scenic village of Jennings and the flavourful island foods prepared by Chef Dezi Banham.

The excellent  coverage received by the sister island is as a direct result of the Tourism’s Authority’s aggressive program to expose the destination to top quality travel writers and press and position the destination foremost in the minds of potential visitors within the luxury travel market.

Can we build on our beaches???

Doesn't the building regulations governing construction in Antigua dictate what happens in Barbuda?

If it does why is the Lighthouse Bay resort on the beach.

Brillia nt!! Hope there aren't any bad hurricanes in the future because this resort's insurance agent will be shelling out a lot of money.
