Antigua St. John's - Following a 10% increase in visitor arrivals throughout 2012, the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Office in the United States in partnership with the Antigua Hotels & Tourism Association (AHTA), will intensify promotional efforts by participating in a number of consumer shows in several key markets.
Last weekend, Antigua & Barbuda had a strong presence at the New York Times Travel Show at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center.
Now in its 10th year, the New York Times Travel Show is one of the largest consumer shows in the Northeast, featuring more than 200 exhibitors and attracting over 2000 travel agents and some 30,000 consumers who plan to take a vacation in the next year.
According to US Director of Tourism, Derede Samuel-Whitlock, the event was a rousing success. “With convenient airlift options from the Northeast, a diverse array of accommodations and attractions, Antigua & Barbuda remains a popular choice among Caribbean destinations. We had favourable interactions with thousands of avid travelers, who were anxious to learn more about the distinctive elements of the destination and specials being offered by local hotels.”
