Antigua St. John's - “We’re here to pamper you”! These are the words that warmed the hearts of first time visitors Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dehoxar as they were welcomed to the Grand Pineapple Beach resort.

For the couple who operates a quaint lakeside bed and breakfast 8 room property in Bala Wales, it is their second vacation in 30 years, with their first being to the island of St Lucia - and already for them Antigua is simply exquisite.

The couple who are on a two week vacation, have already highlighted the key points that have made the past one week enjoyable…the weather, the beach and of course the food! Not to forget the fact that they are extremely happy that they’ve selected the Grand Pineapple all-inclusive resort as their vacation home.

But how did this couple who travel quite infrequently come upon this land of 365 beaches? Social Media! The couple searched the web and according to Vicky Dehoxar, the beautiful photos of Antigua and the good reviews that the island receives on Trip Advisor sold the destination.

During a brief presentation on property by staff members of the Ministry of Tourism in recognition of the Dehoxar’s first trip, Community Development Officer Caudley George spoke of the historical ties that have bound Antigua & Barbuda and the Caribbean to England, and also shared a sample of the local sorrel fruit as well as the recipe for the popular island drink. He even encouraged them to take a trip to the St Johns Market early Saturday morning to experience the culture and sample more of the islands fresh fruit and vegetables.

The management and staff of the Grand Pineapple Beach resort, as a token of their appreciation for selecting the property for their inaugural Antigua vacation experience, presented the couple who are also celebrating their wedding anniversary with a candle-lit seaside dinner.

Plans are already in motion for next years’ vacation when the Dehoxars plan to bring along their children (2 girls both married) and their grandchildren for a family getaway right here in Antigua!
