Antigua St. John’s - For the past 31 years the World Tourism Organization has been setting aside September 27th as the day to recognise the importance of tourism as a global industry, and this year is no exception.
In 2012, World Tourism Day is being celebrated under the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Energy; Powering Sustainable Development.” The theme is in harmony with the present “International Year of Sustainable Energy For All” as sanctioned by the United Nations.
In commemoration of this day and in keeping with the theme, the Ministry of Tourism Antigua & Barbuda will be hosting a “Green Hotels Seminar” at the Antigua & Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm on Thursday, September 27th.
The seminar will cater to small and large hoteliers as well as excursionists and tour operators and will highlight the importance of going green to the overall effort of creating a sustainable tourism product.
