Antigua St John's - Antigua & Barbuda’s North American tourism offices have released the Spa and Wellness issue of the A&B BUZZ.
The monthly e-magazine addresses increasing global interest in ecotourism and sustainability by highlighting the destination’s diverse offerings in spa and wellness products and services.
The May/June issue looks at the growing list of centenarians in Antigua & Barbuda, and surmises that while not a predictor of life expectancy, this points to a destination that is on a positive path to wellness. In A&B, age is honour, and the proposed plan to rename streets to honour the oldest citizens is cited as evidence that “a country’s health is its wealth”.
"Greener Accommodations and Eco Comfort" discusses Curtain Bluff's recent recognition as the “Caribbean’s Greenest Hotel” at the World Travel Awards.
Close to 10 local properties are currently “Green Globe Certified,” the global travel and tourism industries’ certification programme for sustainable tourism. Green Globe members save energy and water resources, reduce operational costs, positively contribute to local communities and their environment and meet the high expectations of green leisure and business travellers.
With a growing trend in ecotourism, many visitors want to identify the source of their food and several hotels have established their own on site gardens. In "Lush Gardens at A&B Resorts," readers tour Galley Bay and Hermitage Bay Resorts, and the Inn at English Harbour, where an array of herbs and produce are grown on property.
