OJ's Restaurant and Beach Bar is a pleasant eatery located on Crabb Hill Beach, right on the water, with the waves crashing and the breeze blowing.
The restaurant has a very relaxing style, and artistic objects are hung from the roof, almost like mobiles (not cell phones!). The menu was decent, although I was most impressed by the prices.
After receiving my menu, I decided to order the Chicken Salad ($35), the Veggie Pasta ($40), the Pork Ribs ($52), and the T-bone Steak ($75).
The service was slightly off the ball coming in, but the longer I stayed, the more it improved. The meals arrived quickly, with the first to arrive the Chicken Salad, an appetizer. It was a delicious, savoury dish, which consisted of dipping small pieces of chicken in a finger-licking dip. There was also salad served around the chicken - hence the name.
The first of the main courses to arrive was the Veggie Pasta. It was creamy, and the vegetables were fresh. The creamy sauce was rich and had a delicious flavor.
Next, the T-bone Steak. A medium rare to medium, tender, BBQ sweet which melted in my mouth, this steak is a good eat.
Finally, I chowed down on the Pork Ribs. I must say, the ribs were a disappointment after the steadily good beat of that afternoon. The meat was a little dry, and almost completely flavourless. The savoury taste that was semi-present might have been pleasant if I could taste it.
The only complaint I really do have is about the chairs. They were very uncomfortable, and I would have enjoyed my meal more with a better seat. Everything else was very enjoyable, the location, the food, the music in the background, the service and definately the price.
