Pineapple Staff Feted and Awarded

Pineapple-Prestige-AwardsAntigua St John's - More than 100 Grand Pineapple Beach Resort employees enjoyed an evening of pizazz and flair at the Annual Prestige Awards on March 28. Held at the Pineapple Grill, the red carpet event celebrated the achievements of the resort’s best employees of 2011.

“This special night is for you because you have demonstrated your willingness to go the extra mile for our valued guests and you are the heart and soul of this company,” said General Manager Courtney Miller. Radio personality Sly J kept the crowd entertained as master of ceremonies.

Shonette Simon from the Bar Department won the Smile Award for Courtesy, while Sasha Mitchell walked away with the Most Guest Nominated award. The Resort Shop’s Verene Carter was awarded the Sandals Foundation Spirit Award and the Dining Room’s Delanie Joseph copped the Supervisor of the Year Award.

The Financial Controller Award was given to Cost Control’s Clairmont London and Dennis Richards from the Maintenance Department won the Hotel Manager’s "Heart of the House" Award. Joetta Smith from the Kitchen took home Most Improved honours, while her colleague Allan Rhome won the Most Environmentally Aware award.

The highly contested Resort Team Member of the Year Award was given to Cindy Joseph from the Accounts Department. “I am ecstatic to receive this acknowledgement from the Grand Pineapple team and I will continue to be passionate and dedicated because this is such fulfilling work,” said an elated Joseph.

The Photo Shop’s Cheraine Simon was declared the Runner Up in the Resort Team Member category and the Revenue Department was named the Department of the Year. Housekeeping’s Gail Henry won the coveted Manager of the Year award and Joan Joseph received the General Manager’s Star Award.

The night was filled with unforgettable performances, including a dance by Sephra Peets of the Entertainment Department and a song by Raphael Josiah of the Accounts Department. The highlight of the evening was the management team play, which was entitled “The Family that Plays Together Stays Together.”

An unrecognisable Courtney Miller displayed his acting chops with his convincing portrayal of an international dancehall superstar, to the delight of the audience.  Team members are already anticipating next year’s festivities.
