Long Bay Park Closer To Reality

Long BayAntigua St John's - The government is moving ahead with plans to establish a park at Long Bay to allow the public to enjoy one of the most popular beaches on the island.

Details of the plan were first made public by Finance Minister Harold Lovell last December, but now Tourism Minister John Maginley has said the plans are at an advanced stage, and consultation on the project may begin as early as next month.

“I have the drawings and a committee is being formed to head this thing as we want to move off in March," Maginley said.

"Right now you have Pineapple, and a private owner in the east owning both ends of the beach and the public wedged in the middle. What we are endeavouring to do is to buy the person on the eastern side out and make the entire eastern area a public park."

He said he hopes the committee will be in place in time to begin a series of stakeholder consultations next month.

He added that the project is a separate development from the planned Beaches Hotel development by hotelier Gordon "Butch" Stewart. “Whether or not that happens, the park will go ahead,” the minister said.

Maginley could not say just how much the government intends to spend on developing the Long Bay Park, nor did he want to provide details of the proposed amenities, as he said the committee will look at these closely and make recommendations after the consultations. The intention is for the park to be completed this year.

Meanwhile, Maginley, who has responsibility for aviation, said someone has been identified for the post of CEO of the Airport Authority. The minister remained tight-lipped about this person's identity, and would only say that an offer has been made, and as soon as there is a formal acceptance, an announcement will be made.

He can't give you the drawings, they might not be his. They might belong to someone else, hence not really showing "TheParK", but the other "areas of interest"

Interested, in my humble opinion, you appear to be the weak one here! Or naive, depending on, whether you are in on the consultations or not. This thing is so obvious, it's not funny. Throw the commoners a bone, while the real project is taking shape. If I was the owner of that acre, I would fight them all the way to the privy council.

He has the drawings

#13 The Wadadli Blogger » 2012-02-14 04:57

Maginley said "he has the drawings" ... why didn't he just give a copy to Caribarena? Even the "public park" is a secret with these people ... this transparency they talked about is a joke ... they should of come to the people and find out what type of park the people want ... they should of put out a competition for designs or even tenders ... I just hope they budget for it properly, no scamps are involved and it's a simple project that we can finish. We dont need another situation like the car park, library, transport board etc... this administrations track record isn't to good at finishing projects properly.

The Epiphany On The Road to Long Bay

#12 John French II » 2012-02-13 21:53

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock. Quote:
A Blessing for the Marking of Doorways
Leader: Peace be with this house and with all who live here.
Response (All): And peace be with all who enter here.
The information follows quite closely on the heels of Epiphany, a period which may be celebrated from January 6 to 19 depending on your religious inclinations.
Tenman, you are familiar with the Gates - Portal - "Doorway" at The Beach on Pigeon Island on Fair Helen. This "Voice in The Wilderness" does not know of any Facility owned by this Sandaled Buccaneer anywhere in the Caribbean Sea, save **enson Bay, where freedom of access and movement is permitted. In the case of **enson Bay, "UnEngineered and Environmentally Destructive Breakwaters" were constructed, whose primary purpose was to restrict unfettered people access. Quote:
An Epiphany Prayer
Father, we thank you for revealing...to us... we realize that it was not because of ... our own superior wisdom. Forgive us for any attitude that we harbor that sees ourselves as better than others. Will you help us to remove barriers of prejudice and to tear down the walls of bigotry?
Respect.

Solonomic? Will History Absolve Them? PT6

#8 John French II » 2012-02-11 18:23

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock. Here is the "Kicker" or shoud it be better said the "Denoue ment". Quote:

Ambitious & Lofty. Has this been tempered by the Reality on the Ground? Four Generations of our Clan during the Holy Holidays spent two days at this tranquil beach and also took in a view from that other Park, Devil's Bridge, where we celebrated the ancestors who made that perilous Middle Passage. Given the Kwanzaa Celebrations, Most fitting to do so. How many of us nationals visit this wind swept and rocky National Park? Is it only the cruise ship visitors or those nationals engaged in nocturnal joys or clandestine commerce? Plans Drawn. Committee in March. Stakeholder Consultations When? Finance Approval When? Property Acquisition When? DCA Approval When? Construction When? Heaven Help The Nation Of Antigua & barbuda.

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock. Maginley said: Quote:

Is this the Harbinger for Group Dynamics and Cooperative Solutions without Losers? Who came up with a Plan? A Committee is being formed? It can be said that the Other Disputant in the Conflict was not involved early in the Game. In order For form to follow function, All Stakeholders must be involved from the "Git Go". Who advises Cabinet? Why do they keep making these simple strategic and tactical errors. Back to Genesis. The Sandaled Buccaneer needed a teeny bit. The Hon Min of Fin. chirping from the IMF NEST needed FDI. The People said "Dat nar Happen Here". The Buccaneer raised his stake to $100K USD Beaches. The Cabinet rubbed their fingers in Glee. The People walked around and shouted at the Walls. The Cabinet sought the aid of OMB Florida Based Designers. The People have seen neither OMG's nor the Privateers Plans. Trust us they all say. We have Our's and Your Visions' Collective and Group Backs. Hopefully, you have answered the Subject Title Questions. Let the Consultations Begin.

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock. Many have posited that the rush for FDI created this conflict with the People's Enjoyment. Some have argued that it was quiet north atlantic enjoyment versus carnival caribbean enjoyment that led to this conflict. In conflict resolutions, there are people in dispute. Who are these disputants: The Good Dr. PM's Cabinet and The People. Not the Euro Buccaneers & Privateers. They are higglers in a foreign land or as the Leader of the People of the Book who led them out of bondage would say "Stranger in a Strange Land". How do you accommodate the wishes of the Cabinet and the People? The Cabinet driven by FDI has a new Vision, yet to be articulated, which is in conflict with the Peoples Vision that "Di Beach including access land, sand and sea is Mine" FDI and the Sandaled Buccaneer say and have demonstrated in word and deed a totally different Vision. Quiet North Atlantic Enjoyment is the Mantra. You Buy It You wear it. In This Business Win-Win Model no prisoners are taken, only profits. Group Dynamics seeks to engage in reoslutions cooperatively where there are no losers: the Cabinet and the People Rise or Fall as One.

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock. Back to The Hon Min Of Tourism. In Mathematics there is the Zero Sum Game. Accept his statement as a fact, You be the Judge by answering the Subject Title Questions. From a Business Perspective the path becomes more clear. Our most successful National Park, English Harbour, Falmouth Harbour, Shirley Heights and The Hills Overlooking Falmouth, English Harbour & Piccadily inform. Who Benefits and who finds themselves in a Business Win-Win situation. The Sandaled European Privateer with a Vision of "Beaches" dancing in his head or the People with the Vision "where the Beach is the Beginning". The answer rolls in on the pounding Atlantic Waves as they are calmed by the Environment of reefs at Long Bay to the Subject Title Questions. The Genesis. In the beginning, the sea, sand and sun were created. the people of Ouadadli enjoyed the beauty as time and circumstance permitted. The North Atlantic Privateers said it was good and sought quiet enjoyment. The People shared and all enjoyed win-win. The Sandaled Euro Buccaneer wished for a teeny bit more, then a lot more lessening the People's Enjoyment at all levels.

#4 John French II » 2012-02-11 15:57

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock. Is this wise and reasonable? Here is the Hon. Min. of Tourism: Quote:
"Right now you have Pineapple, and a private owner in the east owning both ends of the beach and the public wedged in the middle. What we are endeavouring to do is to buy the person on the eastern side out and make the entire eastern area a public park."
Many will shout Brilliant, this is a Win Win Solution. Not so Fast. What Was and Is the Present & Future Vision? We know the Past as articulated and enacted by VC, Quote:
The "beach is Mine, I can bathe there anytime"
The international Marime Law states the Sea is Ours, even though the North Atlantic Buccaneers are all about. Keep those two facts to the fore as you follow either, the Good Dr. PM, The Blue Cabinet or The Hon Min Of Tourism since it now appears that the Hon Min of Tourism has the file and not the Hon Min. of Fin. This "voice in the wilderness" has stated that the first past the post system is a hindrance to A&B' Visionary & Transformative Development and that GOAB should Create a Super Ministry of the Environment in which Tourism. Agriculture etc would be subsumed.

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock. Quote:

Does this answer the Subject Title Questions? Over twenty years ago on another Caricom SIDS,One of the Caribbean Bards in his lament over "Dat di beach belong to we" and the SEAS around SIDS, as International Maritime Laws make clear, cried out in anguish "An if dey ban mi from my beach lan, I hope the Sea ca way di san" Here is the refrain: Quote:
Dat can’ happen here
Over my dead body Tell Jack dat I say Dat di beach belong to we
Tourism vital, I can’t deny But can’t mean more than I and I
My navel string bury right here But a touris’ own could be anywhere
Yes Jack, don’t want me to bathe on my beach
Jack tell them to kick me outta reach”
This is directed to our youth who will ask the Subject Title Questions? As you read further your are encouraged to go and listen to www.tumblr.com/tagged/calypso?before=1308664243 Yes Sir, Mr. Prime Minister, did Cabinet agree to "splitting the baby"?

So there's no money for the Half Moon Bay "acquisition", no money for the Stanford Airport lands, but there is money to buy Long Bay Hotel?

Or will it to be "compulsorily acquired"?
