Eric Clapton to Lease His 45 Acre Antigua Island Estate

Eric Clapton estateRock 'n' Roller Eric Clapton, who is in his 60's, is offering his 45-acre estate on Antigua at $50,000 a week, a New York real estate source said.

The home, known as "Standfast Point," was built in 2,000 at a cost of about $14 million.

The 10,000-square-foot complex, on a hilly area of the island, looks out to the islands of Montserrat and Guadeloupe.

There are covered terraces, outdoor dining areas and two pools.  The home has vaulted wood ceilings and decks.  It sleeps up to 14 people and rents with a full staff.

The property is Clapton's winter home.Eric Clapton estate

Barbara Japal, an agent with Carlbrep Villas Antigua, is working on the Antigua listing for Eric Clapton pointed out that no renters will see the music room on the property, but many of his travel mementos and items from his art collection decorate the buildings.

Clapton is signed to appear at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert at Madison Square Garden in New York October 30th.

That evening Eric Clapton is scheduled to perform with Buddy Guy, Ozzy Osbourne, Jeff Beck, Jerry Lee Lewis, Annie Lennox and Lenny Kravitz are other guest stars signed to perform.

Clapton is not the only celebrity renting out their property.  Entertainer Steve Martin is renting out his four-bedroom villa on St. Barts for $28,000 a week through St. Bart's Properties.

Because someone has his house up for $50 grand a week does not mean that ""people are paying prices like that in Antigua right now" ... I can guarantee you that nobody from Antigua or already living in Antigua is gonna pay that price ... it is for rich people from around the world not Antiguans ... and the fact that Clapton & Martin are putting up their winter homes for rent/lease shows that the crunch is on them as well and if they can make money instead of just paying a staff to watch and clean their house then why not.

the crisis is only for some and we did not have to be affected by the global economic crisis because people are paying prices like that in Antigua right now.
