Is APUA 4G ready? Why is the government moving a head with a plan that seems to further cripple APUA's competitiveness ? My take is that the plan has always been to get rid of what is own by all of us, all Antiguans and Barbudans.

Someone should ask Mansoor what real benefits do 4G brings to the average Antiguan and Barbudan. Howmany businesses in the twin state are poised to take real advantage of the few extra MB/sec download speed?

I say it is a hidden agenda to give Degicel the competitive edge because of perception that some how 4G is so much better than 3G. Not that we should not ultimately move in that direction but there are matters of higher priorities: like bringing real IT to the government offices.

The minister lauds the importance of technology yet his very government operates as if even calculators have not been invented. Government departments are basically manual. The labor commissioner recently stated that they are unable to provide unemployment stats due to lack of a computer system. The Barbuda counsel who this government provides moneys to is unable to account for moneys. The CDC's minister has stated there are no proper checks and balances, which a proper computer system could help provide. There is theft happening with moneys from traffic tickets because again of no proper checks. Every year a government official claims their commercially free email (hotmail, gmail etc.) was hacked. Strangely no one from Mansoor's office set a policy in place to ban such use for official purposes. The computer misuse act sits un-passed though first debated in 2006. However, every year minister Mansoor engages in this pretend the government sees IT as being important.
