Antigua St. John's - Dreams really do become reality, if you only believe. The Antigua & Barbuda Tennis Association(ABTA), under the fine direction of its President Cordell Williams, is pleased to announce that the association’s dream of starting a community tennis program has finally become a reality.

The ABTA in collaboration with First Caribbean International Bank and the Ministry of Sports has officially signed off on a project to bring tennis to a few of the communities across the island.

The aim of this venture by all involved is to see tennis grow in our twin island state. To do this we decided to target areas with a large population (Liberta, Bolans and Fort Road) so that the development of our children between the ages of 5 and 10 years will foster talented juniors who can eventually represent Antigua & Barbuda on the international stage, both at a team level and at an individual level.

First Caribbean International Bank has assisted over the years with the development of our junior national tennis players and has now sought to embark on this grassroots project, providing the necessary funding to see it off the ground and to encourage all children from the surrounding communities to learn to play the sport of Tennis.

Tennis like any other sport can be played for health purposes, but the ABTA and we hope the players old and new will see tennis as their future as an avenue either to a professional career or to an educational future. This is a start, and the Ministry of Education, Sports & Youth Affairs, First Caribbean International Bank and the ABTA sees its potential.
