Antigua St. John's - Thursday was a day of positives for team Antigua in the CoCo Cola LCA ITF Jr tournament in St. Lucia.
Shakir Elvin and his doubles partner Matthew Hutchinson of Barbados advanced to the doubles quarterfinals after taking down the doubles #4 seed of top-ranked junior tennis player Gian Issa of Suriname and his partner Simon Cote of Canada 4-6, 7-5, (12-10).
There was more success in doubles for the Antiguan and Barbudan team as D'Jeri Raymond and her partner Bahamian Dominique Mortier advanced to the doubles quarterfinals by ousting Barbadian Melana Lopez and her partner Amanda Soo Ping Chow of Trinidad & Tobago 7-6(2),2-6 (10-8).
Jody Maginley and his doubles partner Alex Rybakov of the USA, the #2 seeded doubles team, advanced to the doubles quarterfinals by taking out Hernandez Morales of Venezuela and his doubles partner Sanson De Repsold of Brazil 7-6(9-6 tie break), 6-4.
