Double Success for D’Jeri Raymond at Jamaica

Double Success for D’Jeri Raymond at JamaicaAntigua St. John’s – D’Jeri Raymond continued her winning streak by capturing the Girls U14 singles and doubles titles at the International Tennis Association’s Jr. Tournament in Jamaica.

On Tuesday, Raymond and her doubles partner Shaeda Nickle of Jamaica defeated the doubles team of IIana Blackwood (BAR)/ Stephanie Davis (JAM) 6-1, 6-4. Raymond was not as victorious in her final match on Wednesday, as she went down to IIana Blackwood of Barbados 6-2, 5-7 after retiring in the third set.

However, Raymond still had the edge as not having lost any of her prior matches, her win/loss stats were the deciding factor in the playoff competition.

The competition for the U14 girls came to a close yesterday.

Two weeks ago, Raymond captured the TIHTA Aruba girls U14 singles and doubles titles.

Meanwhile, the boys U18 competition brought more good news for Antigua as Jody Maginley and his doubles partner Daniel Shebshayevich of the USA defeated Joseph Altmann (CRC)/ Ryotaro Matsumura (JPN) 6-3, 4-6 (10-7), booking their spot in the doubles semi finals.

As the tournament continues, Maginley and Shebshayevich will meet the #1 seeded doubles team in their bid for a spot in the finals.
