Antigua St. John’s - Members of the Rattlers Cycling Club on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on Minister of Education Dr. Jacqui Quinn-Leandro.
The team’s visit was to thank the minister for providing sponsorship, in the form of airline tickets to Grenada to participate in the Green Fathers’ Day Classic, from June 15 to 18.
In welcoming the all-male team, Minister Quinn-Leandro said she was “willing and ready to assist local athletes in their quest to represent Antigua & Barbuda. Cyclists have done Antigua proud in the past, and I, whenever possible, stand ready to assist.”
Rattlers Cycling Club, captained by Jyme Bridges, emerged overall winners of the three-stage Green Fathers’ Day Classic.
The Antiguan team, which also included Clint Henry and Omari King, secured first in the time trial, second in the circuit race and third in the road race. But their combined performance was enough to secure the overall win.
