Tahir Walsh has made it to the finals of the 100 m in the Singapore Youth Olympic Games. He placed 2nd in his heat, with a time of 10.89. His final is on Friday evening.
Kenryca Francis (3000 m) has also just made it through, according to Chef de Mission Yvette Francis. She was #15 with a time of 11.07. Her final is on Saturday evening. Jalil Salmon (400 m) will go on to round two. He will not medal, but will be placed. Kareem Valentine (50 m freestyle) did not qualify for the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, in football news, Gason Gregory, of Freemans Village, has signed a professional contract with the Trinidad & Tobago champion team Joe Public FC. He signed within the stipulated time, to represent his new club in the Concacaf Champions League (Fox Soccer TV). His contract will run until December 2011.
The Concacaf Champions League has now reached the Group Stages that will see Joe Public FC playing home and away against Santos (Mexico), Municipial (Guatemala) and The Columbus Crew (USA).
In tennis, on day two of the main draw of the St Vincent ITF Junior international, the following results were recorded:
U14 boys
Shakir Elvin defeated Andrew Symmonds (BAR) 6-0, 6-1 earning him a spot in the semi finals draw.
Shakir Elvin/Scott Lanser (TRI ) won the doubles quarterfinals against the team of Tjimon Louisy/Tacquel Lewis (LCA).
