The Matthew’s Road Race is rapidly becoming one of the most interesting races among the cycling fraternity.
The event will take place on one of the association’s most challenging courses, and in return create a very high competitive spirit. As the date draw closer, the rivalry between the clubs and the island's premier riders is heightening.
So far, polls are showing that National Time trial Champion, Robert Marsh is the favourite for Sunday’s event as he seeks for his second consecutive victory.
However, great challenges should be coming from several riders including Jyme Bridges, Marvin Spencer, Clint Henry, Omari King, Dale Richardson, Garfield Henry, Ken Jackson and Neil Lloyd all of who can snatch the grand cash prize.
The event will be done on a 4- mile course for the A-class, 35 mile for B-Class, Juniors, and Females, and 15 miles for Cadets. The event is sponsored by Matthew’s Auto Parts in Clare Hall, and Lucozade, the official drink of the Antigua Cycling Association.
The fundraising committee will meanwhile hold a food sale at the race event as part of the fundraising drive for the hosting of the championships.
