Antigua St John's - A dubious penalty and a host of missed opportunities contributed to Inet Young Warriors' 5-1 loss to Shot Gun in the ABFA Second Division on Monday.
The youngsters were enjoying a good start to the game before the referee awarded what at least one of Shot Gun’s veteran players described as a “harsh” ruling in the 30th minute at Johnsons’ Sports Complex.
It was converted by Kevin Williams, who added a second goal in the second period to spur his team to their big win.
Before that, Warriors had several chances to take the lead, before poor finishing let them down, while Shot Gun missed at lead one gilt-edged chance when their player hit woefully over the bar from close range.
Just after half-time, Warriors went to 2-0 down when Alex Browne, who netted a hat-trick, struck a low shot towards goal and the ball inadvertently hit a defender before crossing the line.
From there, Shot Gun took advantage to score three more goals through Williams, and two more from Browne to lead 5-0 with about 15 minutes to go.
