The once dominant Asot’s Arcade Parham FC lost their seventh straight match in the Digicel/Hadeed Motors and Observer Group Premier Division football competition on Saturday when they were mauled 6-1 by former champions BASSA in the day’s feature encounter.
Playing at the Antigua Recreation Grounds (ARG), Parham opened the scoring in the 14th minute through a Jamie “Taliban” Thomas strike, but were unaware that the early goal would have been their lone strike in a game that would produce seven.
BASSA, former back-to-back champions, would go up 5-1 before the half after having a double strike from Ranja “Carpy” Christian and single strikes from Lennox “Fox” Julian, Sadeef “Butty” Phillip, and Randolph “Etty” Burton. Burton would complete his double in the second half to give BASSA their 6-1 victory.
The win lifts BASSA to 18 points after six victories and one defeat from seven outings, while Parham continue to struggle at the cellar within a point from the same number of showings. The match also saw the return of former national goalkeeper Elvis “Reptile” Anthony in goal for Parham. Anthony however, could do very little to save his team from defeat.
Coach of the BASSA team, George “Cajawawa” Warner, commended his players on their performance against Parham, but said they had been playing well since last week when they came from behind to defeat Greenbay Hoppers.
