Late Strike Holds Warriors to Another Draw

Late StrikeAntigua St. John's - Young Warriors were unable to hold onto their lead and had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Golden Grove in the ABFA Second Division on Monday.

Captain Tnoy Andrew had given Warriors the advantage when he converted his fourth goal of the season from the penalty spot early in the second-half, but the visitors were pegged back when Kurt Francis struck the equalizer.

Andrew beat the goalkeeper from 12 yards out after he engineered the move that led to a Golden Grove defender bringing down Akeeem Buntin inside the penalty area.

But Warriors’ dream of a second win this season were dashed when Kurt Francis volleyed a loose ball which beat goalkeeper Garrett Thomas, who got his fingers to it but couldn’t keep it out.

It was the second straight draw for Warriors as they inched to six points from five matches.

Warriors next play on Nov. 5  against Glanvilles at John Hughes at 4:20pm
