Antigua & Barbuda will take on Dominica at 7 pm in the second game of a double header on the opening night on August 8th while Curacao will come up against Grenada in the opening encounter.
On August 10th the home team will close out the night against Grenada at 7 pm while Dominica will play Curacao in the opening feature.
On the final evening of the tournament, Grenada will open against Dominica while Antigua and Barbuda will close out against Curacao.
Meantime, team Antigua and Barbuda is in full preparation mode under the guidance of Coach George “Cajawawa” Warner and his assistant Schyan Jeffers.
The team has been in practice for the past six months, Warner noted, adding that the only hiccup came recently when practice had to give way for many of the players to take school exams.
“We know that as important as football is, school comes first, so we had to adjust our practice times to later in the day, but, even with that, some guys still couldn’t make it. But we are back on track now,” Warner said.
The practice squad has been whittled down to 25 from over 40 recruits. Warner said they will be looking for about 20 in the final analysis.
“These are some senior guys who have been through these rigours already, so we are looking forward to them taking up the mantle and running with it for us,” Warner added.
He singled out players like Romario Braithwaite; Novell “Boy-Boy” Francis; Eugene Kirwan; Gary “Reds” Harriette; and Daren Warner as some of the stalwarts who will lead Antigua and Barbuda’s charge.
