Antigua & Barbuda Masters Cricket Team has been knocked out of the finals of the Masters Cricket Festival at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium after they were beaten in the first semi-final by New Jersey Masters by five wickets.
It was the Antigua Masters who batted first and reached 123 for 6 wickets after the overs were reduced due to a very late start.
Selvyn Hobson top scored with 59, John Maginley 19, and Alva Joseph 16. Neil Lewis of New Jersey picked up 2 for 28, G Royer 2 for 30 and A Jarvis had 1 for 19. In reply, New Jersey reached 125 for 5 in 19.2 overs.
Carlson Richards hit 32 not out, A Jarvis 13 not out and Neil Lewis 36. Bowling for the Antigua Masters, V Walsh had 1 for 30 and A Joseph 1 for 30. It was a 33-run partnership between Richards and Jarvis that did the Damage after New Jersey were 90 for 5 off 13 overs.
In the first match of the day, which was delayed for two hours due to a wet bowler run up, Antigua Masters defeated Veterans Sports Club of St Croix by 6 wickets. Batting first, Veterans Sports Club reached 121 for 2 off 15 overs, C Walwyn 46, Robin Bascus Jr 30 and K Elliot 11. Bowling for the Antigua Masters, A Joseph and V Smith had 1 for 17 and 1 for 30 respectively.
In reply, the Antigua Masters reached 123 for 4. Purnell Roxy Joseph hit 21, Ian Gore4 34, D Benta 20, and A Joseph 18. Bowling for the Veterans, E Brown, S James, and C Lewis all had a wicket each.
