CMC – Britain’s Lewis Hamilton was hardly threatened throughout the entire 61 laps and drove his McLaren to a splendid victory in the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday.
Hamilton delivered a faultless race and crippled the hopes of his rivals from early.
He had secured pole position in qualifying on Saturday and was an unchallenged winner.
“This is the perfect end to a fantastic weekend,” said Hamilton, who has Grenadian roots.
Toyota’s Timo Glock (Germany) was 9.6 seconds behind in the runner-up spot and Spain’s Fernando Alonso (Renault) was third.
Championship leader Jenson Button, of Britain, was fifth as Hamilton sped to his second Grand Prix win of the season.
“The race was physically very tough for all the drivers, but it was actually quite straightforward for me. I made a good start and I knew I was running longer than the guys behind me, so I was able to bridge the gap back to them,” added Hamilton, who also won the Hungarian GP in July.
Brawn’s Button extended his Formula One championship lead by one point with his fifth place finish.
