Clarification on the Implementation of the OECS e-Tax Filing System

Antigua St. John's - Reports in the print and broadcast media  on Monday, October 15, 2012, announced the launch of the OECS E-tax filing system in four countries, namely Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

There was an apparent lack of understanding, on the part of the local media, regarding Antigua and Barbuda's absence from the project.
 
The clarification is as follows:
 
Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines are all a part of the Electronic Government for Regional Integration Project (EGRIP).  The EGRIP Project Manager is Ms. Karlene Francis.  

 
EGRIP is funded through loans from the World Bank International Development Association (IDA) and grants from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).  Antigua and Barbuda participates in the EGRIP through a CDB grant.
 
On Monday, the EGRIP launched the tax e-filing system in St. Lucia. Antigua and Barbuda and St. Kitts and Nevis are not included in this initiative because the system is being implemented using World Bank IDA loans. Antigua and Barbuda and St. Kitts and Nevis are not eligible for IDA loans because of the high per capital income in both countries.
