Antigua St John's - Just moments before the commencement of the 33rd Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community in Gros Islet, St Lucia on Thursday, the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Baldwin Spencer voiced his support for CARICOM and the process of regional integration.
Spencer told the gathereing that Antigua and Barbuda remains committed to the cause of CARICOM, and as the region continues to grapple with the effects of a global economy in crisis, he believes that the regional grouping is even more relevant than it was over 20 years ago.
“As we sit down to continue the process of regional integration, which is a vital aspect of ensuring that CARICOM survives, Antigua and Barbuda believes that we can learn from each other’s experiences and cement our trading arrangements and capitalise on the rich human resources within the region. We possess the expertise, knowledge and human capital that can ensure our survival. Our survival is dependent on us realising the ideals enshrined in the principles of CARICOM,” he said.
