Daven Confident Despite Rumours

Daven JosephAs speculation increases of an imminent change to the Antigua Labour Party (ALP) candidacy in the All Saints West Constituency, the current candidate Daven Joseph remains defiant.

This talk comes after Joseph failed to bring home the seat in two consecutive general elections. But despite a possible challenge lying in the shadows, Joseph said he stands tall above any rival.

“When you really analyse all of them, none of them, for one, is attached to the people more than I,” he said. “Secondly, none of them is qualified to command any position above what Chandlah Codrington has now, so the level of representation would be the same or worse.”

It had been rumoured that Joseph’s main rival is President of the Antigua Trade & Labour Union (AT&LU) Wigley George. However, George initially had his sights set on the St Paul’s constituency, where he ran independently in last year’s elections.

That move followed an embittered row between George and the party after he was not given a clear pass onto the slate of candidates.

But Caribarena.com has now been tipped that George’s possible candidacy in All Saints West was a negotiating term for a concord between the AT&LU and the ALP.  There are reportedly two other likely contenders.

But Joseph said, “Frankly, and it’s not because of sour grapes, but I would not support any of them.”

Joseph told Caribarena.com that if fresh general elections are called within two years, he would not hesitate to put up another challenge.

“I am looking forward to general elections being called, given the situation in the country right now,” he said. “If it is called before the end of this term, within two years, I still think that I have a lot of political capital out there to contest, but if it goes to the full term, I’ll have to reconsider my position.”

With Joseph’s resolve and George’s ambitions, there is bound to be a head-on collision.

WHOM DO ANTIGUA & BARBUDA REALLY NEED NOW!

Mr. Joseph don't take it that you are being single out. The questions goes to incumbents, past and present wannabees, and pretenders ooopsss, candidates for public office from both the opposition Antigua Labour Party (ALP), the ruling United Progressive Party (UPP) and those running on the independent ticket. However I personally believe it would be a dark day for the people of All Saints West constituency and Antigua & Barbuda if they were to vote you in office. No need to fret those are my personal sentiments, and I don't vote in your constituency, even if I did it wouldn't matter for I don't vote on the basis of party affiliation. I vote on what I believe is in a person heart, truthfulness, and sincerity. I know you Mr. Joseph, look in the mirror, would you vote for you?

Daven, when a candidate is struggling to attract die hard supporters of his own party it is time to quit. The UPP would love to have you as the ALP candidate again, as it is a win win situation for them.

Like most persons I have heard other names mentioned. This is good for the ALP. Caribarena seemingly is also aware of those other names. Why not contact then to see if they are really interested? If they are, it will be great for the ALP in All Saints West.

WHOM DO ANTIGUA & BARBUDA REALLY NEED NOW!

#6 JahMa » 2010-03-31 05:30

Mr. Joseph have you ever really given serious thought to the question of whom do Antigua & Barbuda (A&B ) really needs now, in terms of political leadership, persons whom are committed to affirmative, austere, sincere, transparent, fair, and incorruptible governance? Persons whom are not easily bribed, persons whom will sacrifice all to truly serve the nation of A&B, persons whom will put self last and country first, persons whom believe in the words honesty and honour! Really Mr. Joseph when was the last time you pause in front the mirror and ask yourself the many questions on what it really takes to be a true public servant committed to and for whats best for A&B and its citizens, and not what is best for self? Do look in the mirror Mr. Joseph ask yourself questions, do I have what it takes, do I possess the qualities to be a fair, honest, incorruptible, and a effective representative of, for, and by the people of A&B, am I who Antigua & Barbuda really need now? Awww, Daven you don't get, look in the mirror.

No, no one is questioning your intellect, competence, qualifications, and experience, or your upstanding and charitable character in your constituency. However the people, your constituents, the voters of A&B do not know whats inside of you until its revealed, and it will be revealed by your words, deeds, attitude and actions. For it is written, " For as he thinks in his heart, so is he...Pro v.23:7 , As in water face reflects face, So a man's heart reveals the man...Pro v.27:19". Bear in mind Mr. Joseph, Solomon, David, and Joseph ruled with wisdom, fair judgement, and with the fear and love of God in their hearts and on their sides. The mirror Daven does it tell you that you are who Antigua & Barbuda really need now?

Daven has tried hard against all odds he was never given the full support of the party like many other candidates. In spite of this he was able to increase the number of votes the last election. If he spend more time in the constituency and get the full backing of the party there is no doubt that he will beat the incompetent Chandlah who has done absolutely nothing for our Constituency. Daven has helped several persons and sporting groups in All Saints west and shows that he can be a good representative.

Daven, you need to cool out. You can never beat Chandlah. Even Labour Party people refuse to vote for you.
