@ Tenman & Skyewill - The Noirist Power Elites!

#61 John French II » 2013-02-03 02:42

Notes From A Native Son Of The Rock! Tenman if what you are hearing, with ears close to the ground, is correct that is most interesting. Your most distinguished friend, Dessalines, must be at his wits end reliving "gens de couleur" who believe that they & only they know thatQuote:
... issues are without doubt complex & require the careful & focused study of our intellectuals, of those possessed with the technical & professional knowledge to lead us. Omarde: Send Out You Hand.
Had you attended the Launch of Omarde's First Novel, you would have found yourself in the company of those "edge up arrivistes" & "Noirist Power Elites" who had successfully removed the Aging & Ailing Comrade Leader. Jubilant & Exuberant with Victory, it should be no surprise that they would turn their fangs in the Direction of the Alpha Male of "their making". Not since 1834, with the appointment of The Coloured Henry Loving as First CoP would the People of the country be faced with such a Political, Economic, Social Perversion.
They have sadly underrated the recent political moves of the Prince & Princelings Shaka, Chaku, Juno A-BEC, Commissioner 81st, & Lady MacBeth.
Respect!

JFII, I am hearing the rumor that before the next election, the UPP will have a new leader in the person of the L one who won this poll. I gather the idea is to revive the base using him. I have heard stories of quite a few senior persons turning their back on the party. I am not sure that after what has transpired the past 3 years, many persons would see the L one as a change agent.

Judge Nothing Before The Time!

#57 John French II » 2013-02-02 18:05

Notes from A Native Son Of The Rock!
No need for all this wailing, weeping and gnashing of teeth!
Why associate the outcome with being cast into Outer Darkness?
To suggest that a Confluence of Negative Events was the resultant outcome of the poll is a stretch of the imagination.
Shaku, Chaku, Mamba, Juno A-Bec, Commissioner 81st et al are much more Strategic than that. Quote:
Indeed it is, beyond question, at the appropriate juncture, in due course, In the Fullnes Of Time. Yes Sir Mr. Prime Minister!

#56 Daniella » 2013-02-02 14:00

This poll clearly shows a rejection of both candidates with a high percentage of persons not favoring either candidate. It is a particularly grusome and embaressing result for Harold Lovell, who is now an unfavorable son of city east, and cannot even muster the kind of support and advantage that a sitting representative should have! John St Luce must be vomiting at the thought of what his former constituency have come to. Its is clearly a time for lovell to retire from politics now, or be defeated by the least favorite person in the labor party. Harold, your day is done!

There are international norms and conventions that determine and direct these political experiences and Antigua and Barbuda is no different; destroy the people and ask Errol Cort about the poll outcome. Harold your trip to Gwassa is guaranteed

#40 Old City » 2013-02-01 16:51

City East cannot afford to have two losers running in the same race. A time for a change has come! let us choose other persons to be the standard bearers of this area! It is clear that UPP had their chance and failed miserably. Harold should not be given another term to show how successful a failure he is! Melford is simply not the right material, although i agree he is the lesser of two great evils! Its time for people power to raise it's head and choose a new opponent for the outgoing Harold Lovell, who has done his day! We need a new man to come forward, if only he will declare his hand! #35 ANTIGUAN WOMAN » 2013-02-01 14:28

Seem like many persons in city east are reluctant to put their support behind Nicholas, for reasons such as he came from another party,or he is not really an ALP.I would like to put it out to the public, that many politicians world wide switch party at times, if a party was reserved for only Die hard supporters, like family tradition, then how would any changes take place in the political landscape? Every party would be stagnant with only its core supporters.I am pretty sure no one heard the now Min of Security, been painted as a traitor and such by anyone in the party now that embraces him after leaving the ALP as AG. There is nothing wrong in having a preference as to who one would wish to represent them, but if we really want a change ,i think we should approach any candidate with that goal in mind and forget about personalities,a gain, everyone owes it to oneself to vote for a better future for themself and their children, and that will not happen under the Upp,we must get rid of them, after, we can concentrate on frivolous matters.

The time for UPP and Harold Lovell has definitely come to an end, and I and my entire family circle will never vote for them again! the real question is , who do we choose to lead us into the light after this present darkness! It certainly cannot be Melford Nicholas who has no real love for the area! we need someone we can really talk to. We need a different candidate to contest the elections! Unfortuinately, between the two men I see a choice of two evils, since Nicholas is NOT a true labourite, hence he will always be loyal to himself and no one else! We need some different and new to represent us!

#30 Upper Fort Road » 2013-02-01 13:40

The polls that are takling place will show that the real residents of St. John's City East DO NOT WANT another term of Harold Lovell as our representative, because compared to the previous representative he falls way short in every respect, and the pretender from Rural East Melford Nicholas is trunning in the wrong constituency! the people of City East need someone who not only had a history with them but, will do what he have to, and look after us. We are soo neglected right now that i wonder if anyone remember that we exist! Please will the real candidate come forward and forget the pretenders!

I've known this man nearly half of my adult life and he always comes across to me as sincere and honest. He has an ability of looking at situations rather clinically, most times without emotion and identify solutions to problems!

The people of St. John's City East needs a new representative of this calibre, someone who can devise and implement solutions to problems and not someone who can only offer excuses and the blame game like what the current representative does!

In cricket, he was at the forefront of the lobby group CLIP (Cricketing Lobby for the Interest of Players) that eventually led to the reform and transformation of the Antigua Cricket Association in the mid 90's.

At Cable & Wireless he made a tremendous impact there on both the fortunes of the company, the business customers, particularly the new technology based companies and to the scores of younger employees that came under his leadership and guidance with whom he was never afraid to impart his immense wealth of knowledge and skills.

To all those folks who making comments about Melford Nicholas not being from City East, I say to you that Harold Lovell maybe able to boast that he resided there for a number of years but what good has that been to the Constituents? Mr. Nicholas brings years of experience in representing people to good effect in the trade union movement during his time at Cable & Wireless where he was a shop steward for many a year and as an Executive member of the A&BWU for more than 10 Years! He was instrumental in organising the bargaining unit for workers at ACB, Caribbean Cellular (formerly Boatphone) as well as countless other Industrial Relations battles.

I do not know Mr. Nicholas’s goals, intentions for the betterment of Antigua and Barbuda. I have not heard his views on current issues and economic climate. I am however experiencing Mr. Lovell’s tenor and have an opinion on that subject matter. I know Mr. Lovell is working hard and I believe he was handed a loaded deck and I empathize with him. They say he who feels it knows it. Minister of finance in A&B? can’t be no job harder. I would like to see Harold save social security, and settle issues at the port and inquire on WPP. I would like to see him set aside peoples salaries and make that a priority. I wish him well.
