I guess skyewill gonna defend Bro B til the day he dies. What's the story here? Why you always rooting for him. Having an open door policy doesn't mean anything is getting done. Is he your family? :D

The UPP is clearly unpopular & becoming more so every day.
UPP supporters shun any media source that does not slavishly promote their party.
ALP supporters will do anything to show support for their own party.
Protest voters will tend to show their disapproval of the UPP in any way they can.
UPP supporters then attempt to explain away their poor showing by labeling Caribarena as "ALP".
This excuses them from having to do anything to improve the UPP's appeal.
After all - if nothing is wrong with the UPP - everybody else must be wrong!

#43 skyewill » 2013-01-30 21:36

Sure this poll is unscientific. It may be loaded, it may even be rigged but no matter what anyone may think about it some body is nervous. Here is why: If only for this factor, this is a popularity poll. Either side has the same opportunity. Both sides have my permission to cheat. No poll is 100% so even if an individual loses in the poll the real poll is Election Day. Personally I would love to see a real spirited campaign season like carnival. I would like to see more fight out of the incumbent. They seem to be handing over the keys. I think they are tired. In all fairness from day one they got their licks. Lots of self-inflected wounds. If the current administration loose they lose a lot. New airport and a few close to finished projects. The American economy is turning around. There will be a mad rush to tighten up the ship. Is there enough time? So many issues it must be mind boggling. it's a tugh job.

Brother B's door is always open and anyone can go without appointment to see him and I like that about him. Agriculture edge up a little and frankly I like the brother. But this is not about me, it's about the country. I wish him well. I wish Sam well also. I liked her stance on the crime issue and hope she will step up the pace and lead on the issue of violence against our women. I have to say it looks like UPP is laying down and taking a wooping. I do believe CA have some Biase but it 90+% of what I read hear on CA are true. Issues o SS and MBS the way APUA is ran. I don't understand why the UPP government expect to keep the same flunky's and expect better results. If you guys keep sitting on your hands you will loose. to have come in the way you did, if you loose it will be something I can't even discribe right now. ALP Sweep of 2014 election

LET THE OBSERVER DO AN IDENTICAL TYPE OF POLL AND I GUARANTEE THE RESULTS WOULD BE THE SAME. THIS POLE MAY NOT DETERMINE THE RESULTS IN A GENERAL ELECTION AS CARIB ARENA HAS ALREADY ADMITTED. WHAT IT DOES THOUGH IS TO TEST THE PULSE OF THE NATION AND CLEARLY THE UPP HAS LOST SUPPORT.

I ALSO KNOW THAT THE UPP CANDIDATES ARE MOBILIZING PEOPLE TO PARTICIPATE. TRUTH BE TOLD THE UPP AS A GOVERNMENT LEAVES MUCH TO BE DESIRED. ITS NOT ABOUT PARTY NOW ITS ABOUT ANTIGUA!

Think, you the oe in college, Have you never a picture is worth a thousand words? You may be too young but during the OJ Simpson trial the New York times was accused of darkening his picture to predjudice the court and vilanize him. Super models photos are air brushed to give a certain thought to the viewer. Pictures are used in the field of psychology to provoke memory and in intel and propaganda psychology pictures are us i all sort of way to manipulate or project personality etc. Ever seen a picture of the Crime task force? When that was published the comments was mostly about how they look not from their performance but the way they were depicted in the photo....What college do you attend? Stick with it never stop learning and never stop asking questions...res pect

Colin what Teacher Mildred (perhaps Celeste aka Joan) should ask herself: why is it in polls (none scientific), that the UPP has only been able to garner in the low 30% of the votes (results are being reflected again, like yesterday, in this uncompleted poll today). The Caribarena polls like the Free and Fair election league poll is really a national poll. Is it an accident that polls done by two separate entities reflect the same results on the UPP?

Before the end, you might realize the extent of your own fantasies. John Maginley put up a fight yesterday, and god knows that man is anything but an intelligent political Candidate. And yet now we see Samantha dominating Baptiste more than 2 votes to 1. Did some of the people who voted Maginley yesterday vote Marshall today? Did the ALP factions of caribarena readers multiply overnight? Did they infect other readers with their ALP allegiance, leading to an even more dominant vote today?

Probably not. Wake up and smell the coffee Teacher, the tables have long since turned.

Civics need to be taught

#16 Dessalines » 2013-01-30 10:45

Judging from the comments here we all need a serious lesson in Civics studies and it needs to be mandatory in schools.
Neither Baptiste or any other representative can do anything for their constituency - WHY? Because with the exception of Barbuda (technically) we have one central government with one consolidated fund. St Mary South does not have a local government, does not collect taxes so therefore depends on central government for all development funding. The most a representative can do is lobby his government to commit resources to his constituency. Samantha or Brother B can only be effective if they create a local government and collect revenue's from economic activity in the community from hotels, stores and then reinvest in the area. IMO neither of these two has the skill sets or political will to do so.

Yup definitely need more WOMEN in politics. The men don't know jack squat. God gave them 2 heads, but they make decisions with the wrong one. A woman knows how to get things done, thoroughly consider all options and is not afraid to call the right shots at the right time. Hilson Baptiste has done absoulutely nothing for the people of St. Marys South. Please don't get me wrong. He is a nice person, but it is time for him to step aside. This man has being representing the people of St. Mary's south for over 20 years, and hasnt gotten too complecent. Also, it is time for the people of St. Marys south to wise up and STOP living in the past. We have been vindictive to oders who have being trying to represent us different from Baptist, and all what we can do is think about the past. This needs to be stopped as it is NOt helping our society. Every time it gets closer to election, he pretends to be doing something for the community then stopped. The roads in Urlings havent fixed from since the 80's, now because next year is election, he got someone to grade off the road. " The guy has being taking us for fool for too long now. I went to his office several times and he doesnt even seems to have any plans or ideas for future development. It hurts me to se how we think in society, then blame someones else'es for the things that goes wrong. "I AM NOT AN ALP; I AM NOT AN UPP. I am just someone who wants the best for everyone.
