Antigua St. John’s - Minister of Helps Eugene Humphreys has revised his approach to public protests following what he considers to be “sudden” and “peculiar” demands from Commissioner of Police Vere Brown.
Humphreys told Caribarena that considering the new demands for passport verification of the identities and nationalities of a selected number of proposed speakers, he has opted to simply omit the names of these individuals from the list.
Further, he said, he has omitted the names of all individuals, including those that the commissioner had no contention with and now he is simply crossing his fingers and hoping for an approval.
A new letter with these amendments was sent to the commissioner’s office last Wednesday, Humphreys recounted, and he is still awaiting a response.
“I sent a new letter and just took out the names of the people whose passports he (the Commissioner) wanted to see.
