Antigua St. John's - The Lone Wolf protesters have struck again, this time outside Government House in St. John’s, demanding answers to the controversial Wadadli Power Plant engines that have attracted media attention for several months.
The lone wolf group questioned the Governor General’s refusal to authorize a commission of inquiry into the questionable engines. Opposition leader Lester Bird previously tabled this request, but the GG denied it.
Tuesday’s picket did not go without its share of controversy however, as three separate groups of lawmen tried fruitlessly to remove the demonstrators from the northern gates of the governor’s house.
One group – those providing security for the premises armed themselves some 20 minutes after the demonstration began.
The picket started around 9:30am and lasted through to around 11:00am.
Governor General Dame Louise Lake-Tack who arrived during the midst of the picket did not address the gathering.
After picketing at the property’s entrance, the group marched around its circumference at least twice to further make their presence known.
According to Vere Bird III, spokesperson for the lone wolf group, the protestors have recognized its considerable impact over the past months in afflicting politicians in manners that would undoubtedly get results for the people of Antigua & Barbuda. The lone wolf group have therefore taken the decision to formally register themselves as a friendly society.
