Lone Wolf Picket Governor General House

Lone Wolf Picket Governor General HouseAntigua St. John's - The Lone Wolf protesters have struck again, this time outside Government House in St. John’s, demanding answers to the controversial Wadadli Power Plant engines that have attracted media attention for several months.

The lone wolf group questioned the Governor General’s refusal to authorize a commission of inquiry into the questionable engines. Opposition leader Lester Bird previously tabled this request, but the GG denied it.

Tuesday’s picket did not go without its share of controversy however, as three separate groups of lawmen tried fruitlessly to remove the demonstrators from the northern gates of the governor’s house.

One group – those providing security for the premises armed themselves some 20 minutes after the demonstration began.

The picket started around 9:30am and lasted through to around 11:00am.

Governor General Dame Louise Lake-Tack who arrived during the midst of the picket did not address the gathering.

After picketing at the property’s entrance, the group marched around its circumference at least twice to further make their presence known.

According to Vere Bird III, spokesperson for the lone wolf group, the protestors have recognized its considerable impact over the past months in afflicting politicians in manners that would undoubtedly get results for the people of Antigua & Barbuda. The lone wolf group have therefore taken the decision to formally register themselves as a friendly society.

“We have grown leaps and bounds since we have started. We will keep it going until we get our answers. We have decided to register it as a friendly society a pressure group that goes after both government and opposition when things are not going as they should,” Bird said.

The registration documents are already before the Registrar and the certificate of registration is expected later this week.

Regarding Tuesday’s picket activity, Vere Bird III said he believes the group had considerable time, and has pledged “not to back off.”

“This is just the middle. We have not made it to the final stage. We are going to make history,” he said.

Further, Bird expressed some concern about the fact that week after week law officers continue to make demands of the group under aspects of the law that do not apply.

“I cannot believe that law officers still talking about 100 feet. They do not know the law. Every week they have been telling us the same thing even though we had actually brought the legislation for them. Its not only criminals - but law officials too don't know the law. This has been around for 39 years,” he said.

Caribarena – you are constantly and you continuously censer my blogs. Your portal is nothing more than a scandal sheet – you have lost all credibility. You refuse to publish my comments simply because you are intent on protecting the Lone Wolf and the Birds –You refuse to identify him for who he truly is – and what his past reflects – all I ask is to publish the truth.

So you don't get a day off unless you are on vacation? That's a great situation. Maybe you should take a day off and see what the rest of us are doing instead of driving(?) by. You might even get a day off after all said and done.

Every meaningful uprising in history and moreso those in more recent times begins with a few, dedicated, fearless heroes working on behalf of a deserving but ungrateful people. We in A&B of all people should know this! Lone Wolf, your cause is just. DO NOT BACK DOWN!

Lone Wolf as I have said in the past, once you are not breaking any laws of the country, you have my support 100%. keep up the pressure on those wicked set of people. They are a heartless bunch. Ne**d the detractors, they will have no choice but to side with your group when the truth unfolds. Much respect to all your members. Peace

Imagine if Mohandas Gandhi did not stand up to the British Army/Police and government. Imagine Mrs. Rosa Parks walking her tired body to the back of the bus, even though at times the bus was empty. Imagine a law was passed in the Nation of Antigua, Barbuda & Redonda to ban all forms of public protest. Why stop there, ban all public gatherings of three or more individuals...H itler would rise from his grave and become our biggest investor.and then he could set his dogs on protestors at will, use fire hoses to wash them down the gutter and then build an oven and camp on Redonda to burn and imprison those who oppose

How come you only asking these questions about working now? When the Serial Marchers use to do the same thing with the "Minister of Helps" under ALP rule did you question the frequency of the pickets? I doubt it because you were like the rest of us UPP supporters who thought that the Serial Marchers was doing a good job. Leave the Lone Wolf and his group alone. It is his Democratic right and now as an ex-UPP supporter and out of work, many of us believe he is doing a damn good Job. Keep the pressure up Lone Wolf. Awwwoooooooo!!! !!

Make copies of the law and publish it here on CA and make copies for law enforcement.

So the lone wolf doesnt work? How does he survive? You know, I find it hard to see people walking up and down so regularly with placards, while I have to toil and not get any day off but vacation. I can understand that some people have day offs, and would join the demonstration for a cause. But help me understand the frequency of these pickets for working people.
