The landlady of Antigua’s second murder victim barely heard the dying woman’s last words, and was unable to learn her killer’s identity.
Feliza Cipriana had rented a room to Maria Christina Feliz just five days before her tragic death in the wooden house on lower Lionel Hurst Street in Ovals.
The home doubles as a business for Cipriana’s beauty salon, and one other person rents a room.
She said a neighbour called early Saturday morning to tell her one of her tenants had seemingly been killed.
Cipriana came home to find Feliz lying in the yard wrapped in a towel, in obvious pain.
She said the victim attempted to say something, but the pain seemed too great, as she could not string any words together.
She noticed a long gash near Feliz’s stomach, but said there was no blood.
On Sunday afternoon, there were no obvious blood stains near where the victim had been found.
The police have padlocked the room where the woman lived and have already processed the crime scene.
Speaking to Caribarena Sunday night, Corporal Frankie Thomas said they were pursuing a number of leads and canvassing “every crevice and every corner” to seeking information that could help them in their investigation.
According to the police, this latest murder, the second in under a month, took place at around 3:50 am on Saturday.
No clear motive has yet been established.
They are urging anyone who might have seen anything suspicious to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 462-3913/14 or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477). Information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
This latest killing follows the murder of an American tourist on Windward Bay nearly three weeks ago.

Actually a better headline would be "Antiguan hears someone being murdered, and calls landlady instead of the Police".
How sad (and disturbing) is that?
