Customs Officer Charged

E-mail

Customs Officer ChargedCharges have been brought against the Customs officer held by the police on suspicions that he attempted to import a large quantity of drugs.

Glenroy Sylvester Braithwaite, 37, of Gambles Terrace, is due to make an appearance in the All Saints Magistrate's Court this morning.

He is charged with possession of 48.5 lbs of cannabis, possession with intent to transfer, possession with intent to supply, and drug trafficking.

The police allege the offences occurred at about 6 am on Tuesday December 1, when the officer went to the VC Bird International Airport to collect luggage that came aboard a LIAT flight.

His colleagues made the discovery after they asked to check the bags. Braithwaite then ran from the airport.

Meantime, the police are reporting that there is still very little to go on in relation to the country’s latest murder.

Last Saturday, a Jamaican business owner was shot by what police sources say was a lone gunman who entered J Chin’s Top Notch Store, operated by Chin and his wife.

PRO in the Stratcom Division William Holder is appealing to anyone who might have been in the area at the time to assist with the investigations.

He said someone must have seen something, as the robbery took place in broad daylight in a well-trafficked area in the city.

The store is located on Upper Church Street, just opposite the old Catholic Church, a short distance from the busy Independence Drive. At the time of the shooting, Chin’s wife was in the bathroom, but came out after hearing an explosion, just in time to see a hooded figure leave the store.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Police’s Criminal Investigation Department or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).

Stern Warning
written by Kingpin of king pins, December 03, 2009
As a retired member of the underground community. We have a stern warning for everyone who has ever dealt with us in the cocaine, weed, counterfeit, or commodities smuggling business. If Squidgy does not go free, we will release public via a website all the names of those hypocrites in government, clergy, customs, immigration, business, the judiciary, and the police, who have ever smuggled anything or facilitated the smuggling of anything and has ever dealt with us. We know of the Columbia connections, we have pictures and sound of deals made, we have ticket receipts, and oh! that high official who denied his involvement in some weed coming in....pull all the strings you have, cause we go expose all of you..I am FED UP!

We would need a b*dget to purchase ton loads of polygraph machines because the two or three they would order would certainly croak in less than no time. If all those persons you mentioned were to be tested, my goodness that room (s) would go up in smoke from the amount of heavy lying readings those machines would be recording. We need to make examples of these crooked people so that anyone thinking of applying in any of these areas will know what's awaiting them when they goof up. Who can we look up to now-a-days in this country and say he's a role model? Yet we wonder why the youths have gone astray.

I agree with you totally, lock all of them up if they break the law. They should also bring in some polygraph machines an test all of the police, customs, coast guard and politicians to see if they've been involved in any hanky panky. If proved then lock em up, mind you we may have to build a bigger prison !!!

If we arrest and charge the customs officer why about 2 years ago wasn't the government official and the politician he was shielding arrested and charged? That is why this place is so corrupt. The small man get caught he stands trial but the big man when he gets caught nothing.

Wilmouth said that there was an attempt by a Cabinet Minister to bribe him. Why wasn't this investigated and justice served?

I am not in agreement with what the customs officer did but if he should go to jail then those I mentioned before should also. They all broke our law.

how many times has the customs officer done this & got away with it? He probably brought in tons of weed over the years and made a ton of money in the process. when he found guilty I hope they investigate his finances and if he can't prove that he got his money, house, land etc by legitimate means then tek it all of him.
