A post mortem on the body of a motorcycle rider who died earlier this month in a crash has shown that he was killed by a hemorrhagic shock laceration to major blood vessels of the neck, and a ruptured spleen.
Ryan Rahafman Pereira of Sutherlands died on January 7 after he ran into a utility pole on the corner of Simone Boulevard Main Road and Fitzroy Road. He was the second road fatality for the year.
The police also reported the following convictions in the High Court before Justice Mario Mitchel on January 18.
Sexual Offence
Celwin Thomas of Bendals pleaded guilty to having sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 14, and was further remanded pending sentencing on January 21.
Possession of Controlled Drug
Joan Rose Campbell-Fischer of Jamaica, who was indicted for possession of a controlled drug, importation of a controlled drug, and possession with intent to supply, pleaded guilty to the first two charges, and the third was withdrawn by the prosecution. The prisoner was remanded for sentencing on February 11.
Armed Robbery/ReceivingKirwin Prescod of St Johnston’s Village, who was indicted on a charge of armed robbery and assault with intent to rob, pleaded guilty to the charge of armed robbery. He was further remanded pending sentencing on February 11.
Also, Kain Simon of No 2 Cassada Gardens pleaded guilty to robbery, while Jefferson Fagan pleaded guilty to receiving. They were remanded pending sentencing on a date yet to be determined. Wadabe Roberts of Bryson's Street, Villa, who was indicted on a charge of receiving, pleaded guilty to the charge and was further remanded pending sentencing February 18.
Breaking & LarcenyCorey Mills of Green Bay and Jerome Sylvester of Green Bay Hill, who were indicted on a charge of larceny in a dwelling house, both pleaded guilty and were further remanded pending sentencing on February 11.
Marlon Tittle of All Saints, who was also indicted on a charge of larceny in a dwelling house, likewise pleaded guilty and was remanded pending sentencing on the same date.
Three arrests were reported. In the first, a 20 year old from Green Bay was charged with stealing a grey Toshiba laptop valued at $4,000 on January 3 at Michaels Avenue.
A Villa man is accused of stealing two pieces of 2'x4' treated wood valued at $90 from the Spring Gardens Moravian Church.
A 20 year old from Sea View Farm was arrested and charged by the police with the larceny of a Blackberry Curve valued at $1,150 sometime between December 4, 2010 and January 14.
One break-in was reported at a home in Sutherlands, where a woman reported several electronic items missing, along with credit and debit cards, a 19" Sharp television, a CD cassette combo stereo, a transformer, a power strip, an Apple I-Pod, and a pair of gold L-shaped earrings. They were taken sometime between 7:30 am and 1:30 pm on January 18.
