Police Investigate Another Crash

Police Investigate Another CrashA two-car collision was reported on the Ebenezer Main Road on December 9. A driver and his three passengers, including a nine-year-old boy, sustained multiple injuries.

The accident, which happened near the pond, involved a jeep, A3383, owned and driven by 44-year-old Dale Thwaites of Tindale Road, and a car, A29069, owned and driven by 33-year-old Frederick Anderson of Creek Side.

Anderson, who had been heading south at about 7 pm, reportedly tried to overtake several vehicles and collided with the oncoming jeep coming towards him.

Three people - Sharon Simon, 33, Delvon Thwaites, 14, and Kevin Samuel, 9 - all of Ebenezer, along with Anderson, had to be taken to the Mount St John’s Medical Centre.

You i****ts need to sit down and think of other things and yourself adn stop judging ppl, bcs those of you who are talking are no better than those you are talking about .. Some of you who are out there judging are doing things that are worse than the bad judgement that Anderson made the night of the accident bcs some of you out there do worse on the road and then think that it is right but bcs you never get in an accident atleast not yet you think you ahve the right to pass judgement on him. I might be a friend or not but it is not right for the kind of things that you all sit and pass araound, its like you all wait for an article to come out to have something to say towaards ppl... Look at yourself before you judge ppl bcs you are no better than the ppl you are judging> I have been in Antigua for the years that I have been and there are some ppl out there that do worst than waht Anderson actually have done and you are some of the ppl. Tall of You chk youself before you reck youself> Words of advice you are no better

What does the L mean? Lousy Driver?

#9 JP Farnsworth » 2010-12-15 06:23

Why do persons learning to drive do so at speeds so slow you can watch a donkey pass them? What exactly is it they are learning to drive golf carts? No wonder we have accidents here people get a license and they think it means they now know how to drive. Parking is another form of entertainment I have in town. Have you seen some of these foks park? I've got to put this on that You Tube thingy.
Tire tread seems to be optional because transport board never checks to see if you have any. does anyone in Antigua know when they should use the signal? put on headlights? Road Courtesy? it's a free for all out there go thing we don't have any highways. could you imagine the disasters if these jokers were allowed to drive at 70 mph? Certainly we live over the edge of sanity.

I fully support what you have said.
Those that drive without thought for others should be penalized and stripped of their license.
The innocent always pays for the guilty. These innocent people could have had their lives snuffed out because of poor and selfish judgment.
What is the purpose of driving recklessly? What is the purpose of trying to overtake not one, not two, but three vehicles in one go?
@Close friend: If you were a good friend instead of defending his actions you should berate him for stupidity.

senseless driving

#7 fnpsr » 2010-12-11 11:14

According to the article, “Anderson, who had been heading south at about 7 pm, reportedly tried to overtake several vehicles and collided with the oncoming jeep coming towards him.” According to the blogger WTF, the area is a hub of activity. Therefore it is senseless to speed or to overtake one car never mind several cars. This driver’s license should be suspended and made to attend a safety driving class and demonstrate that he can use the roads intelligently.

Again, I call for a decentralizing of the police in the form of satellite stations. The local police would be familiar with the area and would provide community policing as a deterrent to such callous driving as in this case.

Let’s fix the little things before we attempt to fix the big things.”

both you and the idiotic driver both need to take an intelligence and mentality test because based on your comments and his actions you both have the intelligence of a donkey and zero mentality. The driver is an idiot without the mental capability to be allowed to drive a vehicle on the road ..

no more excuses

#5 Texan » 2010-12-11 06:58

If you really are a "concerned citizen" then you would not be making excuses for this person. I bet you are making excuses because you are a close friend of his.....

I DO NOT PASS ON BLIND CURVES, FURTHER MORE, I DO NOT PASS MULTIPLE CARS....EVER. So while you may think I will have my day someday, I just might, but I will not be the cause of the "accident", some MORON like this guy will be. I just hope that if I am with my Son that he will not be seriously injured.

WAKE UP, SLOW DOWN, STOP MAKING EXCUSES, AND THINK!!!!!!!

Accidents are for everyone

#4 A close friend » 2010-12-11 06:42

To the person that made the comment every dog have their day. Please remember that today for you tommorrow for me because some of us when we are driving think that we do the right thing when it is not so in others eyes.
He might have made a decicion to take over others and it caused the accident yes, but he could have not and still ended up in an accident so think twice before you talk .
I think we need to put ourselves in ppl posytion before we judge them on their mistakes.
Mr. Anderson Thank God Your alive and get well soon

Driving is not a right, it's a privilege. When you abuse the priviledge you should lose access to it.

#1 WTF » 2010-12-10 22:02

Anyone that has ever travelled through the area where this crash took place can attest that it's not the ideal place to try to overtake other cars. Actually, most roads on the island are not ideal for multiple overtaking activity. However, on a daily basis this stretch of roadway is used as a "testing track for the vehicular unintelligent". The area has a twisty and even surface where it's not unusual to see a local pick-up game of football, patrons hanging out alongside the road of a nearby bar, village church goers volunteering their time and energy to the lord at a church across the street, etc.

Then some irresponsible, inconsiderate, and negligent driver comes along and decides that their own agenda means more than the safety and lives of the rest of us. To try to pass several cars on a small village roadway is just plain ignorant and wrong.

Perhaps the driver in this case ought to look at entering into the 2011 Barbados Road Rally and keep his reckless behaviour for the professional circuit and off of our public roadways. Fortunately no one died this time. This may not be the case the next time around.
