So, CARIBARENA tell me, since he didnt see/hear gun(s) or gunshot(s) how could be LOGICALLY conclude that he was shot at? That dont make no sense to me.

Could it be that he damaged the mirror?

Police say they have so far found no evidence to support the claim that a journalist was shot at on Sunday night.

A Caribarena reporter has said his vehicle had been damaged by a bullet after a gunman fired at and missed him.

Police spokesman Corporal Frankie Thomas told OBSERVER Media investigators found the driver’s side mirror of the reporter’s jeep broken.

The journalist reported sustaining a cut to one of his fingers.

Daily Observer - 6 March 2013

According to the reporter’s statement to police, he neither saw anyone shoot at him nor heard an explosion.

didnt know you worked with the police. Seems like you have more information than everyone else here. Have you seen the damage on the vehicle? more specifically what kind of damage. Do you know if anyone else was around? If you have additional information you should share, if not you should shut up!

Talk about a poor attempt at publicity. In a crowd of persons no one heard a shot no one saw the shooter? You're selling, but I'm not buying this one.
My guess is you hit another car and are too embar**ed to report that. :-*

#34 OUTOFANTIGUA » 2013-03-04 22:08

"Why would anyone be attacked for the IHI"? These words are so Idelibly certain of the attack on the reporter; were they informally phrased or should there be more enlightenment.A ntigua is a small place where false information is easily magnified .we also know People, Places and Things can hide in the open.
At any given time a large concentration of criminals can be found in the the best place to hide. (Does Antigua/Barbuda has the Equivalent of Americas Federal Protection Program),or for instance a Prison/ and was the Prime Minister trying to give us a Clue?

i AGREE, I KNOW, EVEN A NON POLICE EXPERT WOULD KNOW AT THIS TIME, FLOODING THE GROUND WITH OFFICER WOULD BE THE BEST THING TO DO AT THIS TIME, EVEN AT LEAST A SPECIAL PLAN AND TASK IS DEVELOPED AND IMPLEMENTED.

LET THE PUBLIC SEE THE OFFICERS, EVERY CORNER OR AS MANY CORNER AS POSSIBLE, NOT JUST SOME TASK FORCE BEHIND THE SCENE

People stop blaming and do something!!!!
THAT'S NOT MY JOB!
This is a story about four people named: Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an Important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, But Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done. God Bless Antigua & Barbuda!!!

I realise we love to hear the word task force but the government and people so not know there must be substance with the task of the force. There must be a plan, not just a team. what is the team's goal, strategy, expertise, are they equipped and motivated?

This document is a document that the government put together so if its worth something, then why are these folks not arrested and charged. Things that make you go hmmmmm. Crime is escalting not because any political party supporting it, it is that way because the drug trade has gotten hugh and the black market for stolen items getting there too.

Wha are you DOING?

#24 Unpopular 2 » 2013-03-04 12:53

We all sit back and hope that a few inept Police Officer solve every crime when we may have information that would help and do nothing.
Frankly, it will take a determined effort on the part of all to reduce and hopefully eliminate these issues, but we would rather blame the Goverment, Police, Satan, SIgns of the time rather than take positive action.
ACTION! DO SOMETHING!

#23 Unpopular » 2013-03-04 12:51

A number of you whine and complain about the Police not doing their jobs because you have the made for TV solve a crime in one hour CSI, Matlock kinda a mentality.
You choose to ignore one primary factor in these shows and that is they(TV cops) usually get the assistance of the public / witnesses.
Question is 'What are you - the general public - DOING (what ACTION) are you taking to help with this major issue.
Like with everything else that happens on this island people either pray, which in itself is the equivalent of doing NOTHING and waiting for some mythical GOD to save them. Those of you who would want to lambase me about that, I seem to recall from back in my church going, praying, doing nothing days a couple of sayings; "Faith without WORKS is dead" ; "God help those who HELP themselves."

I guess while the ministers get fat and enjoy there free luncheons at the tax payers risk, then its ok.

Tax payers are been shot at or killed and not even the Prime minister gives a damn and if he was close to been concerned he would have put this country on curfew or red alert, but such is the way when they are not affected personally.

i bet if it happened to one of their own they would want faster results, so in tern all they wanted was our votes.

If we don't pay our taxes its a crime and we are dealt with severance, so how then when we are shot at and robbed stricter measures are not implemented or even just a bit of extra police presence, and by the way i don't even know how the commissioner of police looks like?

maybe we should start to buy illegal guns and shoot at the ppl that shoot at us and that's what this nation will turn to.

#16 Morris » 2013-03-04 09:32

It has been 59 days since Dr. Cort established his "Task Force" on 5 January with a 90 days mission to fight gun crimes. Since then, we've only seen an escalation in gun related crimes. There is only 31 days before we reach his 90 days target, and there is no indication up to this point to assure the public that the Task Force will achieve its goal.

I have spoken about the invisible influential hand(s) and our porous waters; however, I will also include our porous airspace. It is a known fact that air-drop has been a means of getting drugs into some of our C'bean territories. Well, since we don't have a working radar, and the authorities have expressed that we really don't need one, there is absolutely no way for them to monitor our airspace for suspicious aircrafts.

The point I am trying to make is that we are defenseless on every front in this fight against illegal drugs and guns entering the country. Yet, we have leaders who are reluctant to embrace change for a better future. Restructure the army! ANU is not under any threat of attack from any foreign gov't; however, ANU is under attack from corruption, gangs, drugs, and guns.

Another shooting! Just another night in Antigua I guess. Lets ask the absentee invisible police chief how his gun violence task fore is going? Lets ask the absentee and invisible police chief how his crime plan is working out?? Antigua is burning and no crisis is signaled by the PM and Security Minister. The police chief obviously doesn't care. But I expect the elected officials to care especially since there will be an election soon and the incumbents will be looking for work. Can we not demand better from our leaders? God please help us because our leaders won't.

Happy to know that the reporter escaped unhurt. Let's hope this was an isolated incident and is in no way connected to the recent threats against your organization. The criminals are hoping to create the ideal environment for them to thrive; a corrupt central gov't, an ill-equipped and ineffective police force, a weak judicial and penal system, and a silent media. Please do not allow those criminal elements to shake your resolve!

It's always police continue to investigate the shooting. These shooting often occurs in the wide open regardless to who, what or where, these guys are not hiding.
Why can't the police ever arrest these bandits on the spot instead of police continue to investigate? how could these guys continue to shoot and kill as they like this easy and just walk away from the scene? robbery of service station on the busy airport road, they have time to beat this owner, steal and over turn his vehicle on the same road and all this time even though a security officer was involve not one police vehicle was even in the surrounding area and this is what often bothers me. If one can do this at the popular Sir Viv stadium right after a big game and no arrest on the spot Antigua is really in trouble.

Is it by Coincidence that when Caribarena (CA) starts to print articles about IHI's corruption within the past Labour Administration this took place???

Is it by Coincidence that threats were issued to CA regarding the publishing of these IHI Investigative (Re-gurgitated) pieces and this reporter/media personality was allegedly attack???

Questions worth pondering!!!
