Shooting at Heritage Quay- One at MSJMC

General Post Office on Lower High StreetAntigua St. John's - Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident that left a 23 years old Radio Range man nursing multiple gunshot wounds at the Mount St. Johns Medical Center.

The alleged incident, which took place in the vicinity of the General Post Office on Lower High Street, was reported to have occurred shortly after 2am Saturday.

According to the police, 23 years old MacMillan Roberts of Radio Range was standing in the area with friends, when a lone gunman wearing a Black hooded shirt with his face concealed ran up to him and opened fire; hitting him multiple times in his back before he fled the scene in the direction of King’s Casino.

Roberts was rushed to the Mount St. Johns Medical Center by the EMS, where he is reported to be in stable condition; however, his wounds are said to be serious and require immediate surgery. The Police are currently conducting further investigations into the matter.

Dear international gangsters, you will soon be buying our passports. In return for us selling you our birthright can you restore some order to our country..... unfortunately a bunch of young punks have been watching too many movies and our politrick people have no balls and the police have no clue ( i guess that is why you will be coming on mass). Infact, the only thing the Police can catch is the flu or a bag of weed, they have lost control of the streets. Anyhow, I know Real gangsters have a code of ethics and [u]control their territory -ie. - 'respect the chain of command', 'don't ** on your own (albeit adopted) doorstep' and 'don't get high on your own supply' etc , please help, respectfully, ANU 'sell out' citizens.

U know pple always saying the government dont have money to get detective help or training for police to do proper wrk and get unsolved crimes solved but they spent 2.5 million on bringing in govt vehicles. They always signing some kind of contract with the republic of china for how much of millions of dollars. So they have money. Up to now they cnt find poor keriann joshua. They havent even mentioned her for a while. Antigua small but have so much bush take the dogs and go look for her. Lock down the country for one day and try and get the public involved everybody put on the gloves and boots and go look for her island wide search. I just feel like the police and the soldiers are lazy. When u sign up to have these title u sign up to get no rest at home or no proper family time but noooooooo when the shift ends that is it the badge is taken of wrk is done until the new shift starts. This is pure non sense. The police is always asking for suggestions but yet still they put no action in place. Some of these criminals are your neighbours! Friends! Families! We must always be our neighbours keeper pple. Who's or what's next? Could it be me or u?

A Real Crime Action Plan...End the Causalities Now!

#37 Dig It » 2013-03-03 12:18

I pray for the victim's speedy recovery and the perpetrator is CAUGHT. Too many of these senseless shootings is occuring this land, and, need to be taken seriously, with a 'strategic-crim e-plan.' This must be a 'partnership' with residents, businesses, the clergy and all stakeholders involved. And, one that will need to have sincere 'mentoring' and 'opportunities' for our young youths who are engaged in criminality as a way of survival.

It would take a lot more to curb/end the rise in gun-related crimes than passing tough legislation on "stricter penalties to control criminal activity" or reminding the criminals of our "death penalty still forms part of the Laws of Antigua and Barbuda" as suggested by the NS Minister.
http://www.caribarena.com/antigua/news/police/103251-big-bounty-offered-for-shooter.html
In this latest shooting, we heard that the suspect was weraing a "Black hooded shirt" to conceal his identity before shooting the Roberts. Why don't the Police 'ban' citizens from wearing these shirts over thier head in the public domain? Let's show the public that we more than "mere talks!"

YOU HAVE TO PICK UP THE GUNMEN

#33 NYC » 2013-03-03 10:36

Even if the government change from UPP to another today with every bandit walking around loose full of ammo and unchallenged by a police force, you've got to find a way to pick up all these murderous bandits and hang or lock them up. The problem is stemming from incompetent policing and I agree with other bloggers that Caught and the police Commissioner is unable to organize the available forces to do this job. You have some fearless bandits in the land and you need fearless cops on their heels.

A bunch of guys hanging around the post office at 200am! If the police were doing their job patrolling, they would have stopped and searched all persons lingering around the quay....and other places. Perhaps some of the police officers working at Wendy's or diamond ice could be spared to work the streets. The police are not patrolling. The police chief is invisible and mute. The police hierarchy is comfortably home in their beds while the city centre is alive with undesirables. How is the gun task force going? How is the crime plan doing? Let the police chief call a press conference to face questions! The media needs to ask the tough questions...the PM has no trouble dismissing rogue senators so why won't he dismiss his police chief and bring someone in who can lead the troops...

Vigilante justice, murder in brought daylight a slew of robberies and assaults demonstrate clearly that the criminal element are satisfied in the incompetence of the police, it like they know they will get away with it. Vigilante justice shows a lack of confidence in our justice system, any body who has ever had a matter in court where you had Judgement in your favor and awarded compensation, the defendant makes no payments, your lawyers charge you to collect your money and most of the time don't , then you have to pay their cost out of your pocket. It is not ludicrous that you can win your case and the perpetrator gets away with it and you are left to feel the fool with no option but to gun them down. The incompetence of our justice system and police is the cause of the escalation of violence in our society. UPP and Dr. Dr. BS you not ready yet after nine years , give it up and bow out, give a chance to get a competent government.Plea se

You see, the people in parliament really don't care because they live above the fray. They have their own security, they are armed when they go out and their mansions have all the bells and whistles to protect them so what is going on here really is not getting home to them. When they come on the radio and talk about how sorry they are even that speech is prepared by someone and they are told in what tone to read it to send the correct message.Politic ians are willing to sacrifice 99% of the population if it means that that 1% will ensure that they come to power. Consider yourself a lamb to the slaughter until elections are held.

#26 Cool Ruler » 2013-03-02 20:49

Sad to say but with elections one year away Antigua can brace for further escalation of these type of incidents as the persons behind puppet masters seek to effect a certain political outcome. Remember the spike in crime during 2009 leading up to elections and while the were waiting on the court to decide on the appeal? After the appeal went the way of the government there was a lull in gun crimes, it is now starting up again.

this crime wave thing happened in a city I used to live in. The community got desperate after years of pleading with the police and authorities, they did not help or have any answers. Then.......we (mostly Christians) asked Farrakhan's people 'Nation of Islam' to help, they did, they put one big man on every major street corner with phone and in shouting distance of the next.......resu lt.....crime stopped almost immediately.... .....we reclaimed our streets and the hardened criminals moved on as there was easier pickings somewhere else. Antigua too likkle for this crap, learn this lesson......loc k it down....now.

I have been saying for the longest time that there is a small group of puppet masters (influential individuals) that are controlling the criminal activities in ANU. The authorities sat on their behinds and allowed this cancer to metastasize. I know some will not agree with me, but the signs are as clear as daylight. It cost money, and lots of it, to import the amount of cocaine and other hard drugs into the country, and wherever there is drugs there will always be weapons in close proximity. It is always big news when they hold a person with drugs at the airport, but who is checking our porous waters where the large shipment are transported? Who were the recipients of those weapons from the Armory, and how many were recovered? I am sure the authorities know every drug dealer, every gang leader, and every notorious criminal in ANU. I am sure if these persons are squeezed enough we will see a reduction in violent crimes. If the Police don't know how to do it just let the PM sign a "Rendition Agreement" with Egypt and send those criminals there. They will definitely talk. There are some family members who know these criminals but will not talk, because that's how they survive.

LMFAO, this is getting ridiculous, the bad guys are, to put it bluntly, taking the **. They know that the police are useless, they know that despite all the nonsense spouted by Cort & BS that they can do what they want and they are sending a message. They ain't scared of you BS, Cort, or anyone else, this is war, on their terms.
The only way to stop this is to bring in a task force of highly trained individuals who know what the job is, they need to have NO family connections with antigua whatsoever, no brother, sister, cousin etc etc. Then they need to be given free rein to deal with the problem and I can assure you in a short space of time all will be sorted out.

Baldwin should call a sate of emergency for a month. Close down certain areas of the country and put the military out to patrol. Also the National Security Minister should combout every house in certain areas looking for guns, House by house. With the military and police. I'm sure they will find a lot of guns this way and drugs to. Do more stop and search on the street. Undsicriminatel y. All those young guys walking in town, doing nothing. Subject them to body searches by undercover agents, police and military. Target these guys and outgun them with properly trained officers and military. Take the fight to them.
