Brothers Shot by Police Still Not Charged

Brothers Shot by Police Still Not ChargedAntigua St. John's - Brothers Roderick and Kevon Grant, both of Lightfoot West – who were shot by the police last November during an alleged gunfight - have still not been charged, and at least one remains a patient at the Mount St John’s Medical Center.

Twenty-year-old Roderick – who was shot in the head – was reportedly discharged from the hospital, but rendered immobile and is kept at home, according to family members. His visits to the hospital for treatment are frequent.

Acting Commissioner of Police Henry Christian told Caribarena recently that the incident, which took place in the Belmont area, is still under investigation.

The brothers have still not gone before a magistrate, and the police have not released any information about the whereabouts of a third suspect.

“Information so far suggests that they are still under care, and have not yet been taken before the court,” Christian said last Thursday.

The November 27 incident took place after the police reportedly approached three men who were suspected of allegedly stealing a vehicle.

The police said the shooting took place after officers identified themselves, and at least one of the three suspects opened fire.

Police spokesman Inspector William Holder said then that more insight into the case would be provided at the “appropriate time”.

Asked recently about the delay in laying formal charges against the two, he said the police have to wait until they are both released from medical care. Kevon Grant, 16, is still hospitalised.

“You have to wait until they are in a stable condition, because serving a charge could cause anything,” he said, adding that it was uncertain when this would occur.

The victims’ mother, Sonnette Fenton, maintained that she has no knowledge of her sons’ alleged criminal activity, or why the police would “target” them.

This story is rather interesting. My question to the officers what is the description of the third person. Secondly which of the two boys had the gun and thirdly what kind of gun did they have? The gun used by them should be in your possession. How come they were shot at close range? Was it the police who shoot them or the defense force guy? Patiently awaits the outcome of this mysterious "shoot out"

No parents in Antigua seem to know what their sons are involved in. Wake up mommy and daddy; they go and come as they like, they don't work; but have expensive clothes and cell phones that you did not by, they always have cash... Do you smell the bacon yet?

Are the police in Antigua so backward? These suspects have been arrested and under guard at Mount St. John. They should be in police custody even if they were wounded so that when they get better they are escorted to jail and then to a hearing. That is why so much crime is happening in Antigua because the POLICE ARE NOT DOING THEIR JOBS. Every time I saw them in the city they are talking to woman instead of patrolling. Another thing why are police women wearing skirts instead of pants? If they have to chase a suspect can they do it in a skirt?

it is still under investigation?? something is not right here.. when the story broke the police say that the boys was shooting back, so my question is where is shells from the brothers gun ?it should be there..... if they have sufficient proof they don't need to need so long to charge them... or the police don,t have any proof and they use aggressive force when it was not needed.
