Police Investigate Burglaries and Auto Parts Theft

Police Investigate Auto Parts TheftAntigua St. john's - The police are investigating a number of burglaries in the Jennings\Ebenezer communities, where several residents reported that their homes had been broken into, and a number of valuable items stolen.

In one report, an Ebenezer woman said she had been asleep at home early Tuesday when someone broke into her home and stole her handbag, which contained an undisclosed sum of money, travel documents, and ID’s. She also reported several pieces of jewelry stolen. Further investigations into the matter are ongoing.

In another report, a Jennings man reported that someone broke into his home between 10 am and 9:50 pm on Monday, and stole a black Dell laptop computer and case, a grey Sony digital camera, a Makita power drill, two speakers, and three bottles of wine.

Another woman reported that she had been asleep in her home when she was awakened by a bright light in her face, and a man in her bedroom. She said the man, dressed in dark clothing, stole an undisclosed sum before he fled. The incident took place between 3:30 and 4:30 am on Tuesday.

Similarly, another female resident of Jennings reported that she was awakened by someone shining a bright light in her face. She further reported that a slim man, about 5’5”, dressed in dark clothing, was inside her house. The intruder reportedly fled after the woman screamed for help. This happened at about 6 am on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a Golden Grove man reported that his garage was broken into, and a number of auto parts were reportedly stolen, including two brake lights, two side mirrors, a distributer, and the engine for a 1999 Rav 4. The incident allegedly took place sometime between February 9 and 11.

A Cassada Gardens woman reported that someone stole the windshield from her white Nissan motor truck, which had been parked in front of her home. The police are continuing their investigations, and are appealing to anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or call Crime Stoppers at 800-Tips (8477).

Why can't we police 108sq ml? Carvaa has put forward some good suggestions. In the US the police patrol their patch and their job is to look for the bad guys and safeguard citizens....... .....why can't we do that in A&B.....it is not rocket science?????

Mr Commissoner you need to put a police out post wih adequate staffing in each village and employ more information personnel , go deep into the ghetto and depressed communities, we are seeing a pattern to this dysfunctional activity as in poor nuclear families, single parent household with teenage boys with inadequate educational history group together with their peers , early drug use and their low self esteem becomes a vulnerable population to commit crime for the attention of acceptance and meeting their needs of survival

Mr Browne

once again here go's my suggestion. Mr Browne you assign roughly ten officers [rotating shift] to every village, or you may combine two village like Jennings and Bolans and call it a zone. These officers will patrol these villages in and out be it foot, bicycle, horse or auto, getting to know every resident, church leader, shop owner, the guys on the block and lets not get carried away with a puff of one spliff, every teacher and keeping track of every new faces coming and going. Residents feel more secure knowing officers are always there in return we will see a better flow of info and communication between both parties. We also need an officer stationed at every school during school hours. How could one steal a whole engine? and the cleverness of stealing a windshield from a vehicle wow! In the USA they had a show with prisoners and how fast they could completely strip a vehicle and you would be amaze.
