Antigua St. John's - Despite public pronouncement championing the cause for promotion for the female officers under his command, Commissioner of Police Vere Browne appeared to have become mum.
When contacted by caribarena in respect to promotion for several male and female officers, he said he had no time to listen to or address any queries about these officers.
Last week, the top cop announced on state media that he had noticed the obvious gender bias in the force, and the complete disregard for educational standing and merit as the determining factors for promotion.
Caribarena contacted the commissioner for comment on why officers who have proven to be both efficient and competent have not been promoted. These include Assistant Superintendents Joseph Hughes and Albert Chastanet, and Inspectors Mary Greenaway-Davis, Daisy Hector, and Claudette Mason.
