Child abuse, child abuse, my foot!! Since when parents are not allowed to discipline or punish their children? Furthermore, children always run and hide when they know they will be getting licks or would have already received a spanking. This little 9 year old is just a spiteful little brat, knowing the havoc it would cause not knowing where she is...just her way of dealing with her mother.

I am sure that ther eis more to this story than is being said. However, if the child has don esomething that she is told not to do and she has to be disclipined according to the word of God, I don't see why not. The situation needs to be investigated by Social Services. However, we should not be too quick to accuse the mother of child abuse. What we call disciplining children in the Caribbean, here in the West, they call it child abuse. This is why we had events such as the last August Riots and looting in UK, many were committed by black children whose parents are not allowed to discipline them and are now serving harsh prison sentences, which will blights their future. Which one do you think is best??

I am sure we all agree that there are two sides to every story,i am not trying to insinuate that the mother is not telling the truth,but in these delicate situations the child just may have a story to tell.Child abuse can come in several forms,not just marks on the skin.,this is why investigations should be done,and not just take for granted she may not want to be disciplined.

You,re absolutely correct. In developed countries she would not just be returned home before a thorough investigation is done,but as you so rightly said, there is nothing in place to deal with these situations.We need to get our act together,instea d of everyone going abroad and concentrating on Accounting/law etc,what about offering scholarships for specific areas,such as Sociology / Psycotherapist etc,a modern society has professionals in all fields,not just to count money and go to court.The Social system we have here seem non-functional. I'm so agreeing with Natty. Children need to be punish when they do something wrong. Don't you see what's happening to our youth when they are let loose. Society need to wake up and stop talking & thinking like Americans. Their youth is at the point of no return.

I wish we had a better system. This young girl should not have been allowed to return home until a proper investigation has been carried out. The child could be in an abusive situation and it could get worse since she ran. Unfortunately, we do not have proper temporary housing to assist this young girl nor proper child health and welfare program to ensure that the parent and child gets the proper help needed.

Rasta T I agree with you 100%. Something is not adding up there. People she is NINE. As Rasta T said, you mean to say no one at all saw that girl during the period she was missing. What about the person in whose yard she was found? Okay if that was the truth, I think the mother should be investigated. The child is too young to be running away from home because of punishment. Either way, something is not adding up.

if the child was abuse wouldnt the police see marks on her,some kids jus want to do their own thing them days and dont expect punishment,am not saying dat she the mother have to beat her child to the point of this child running away from home,jus saying that the authority need to be there for both mother and child so them kids can respect their parents enough and dont go doing this things cause you dont know who could have found her in this mad world of today...

Its good to know she has been found.Children these days will simply not accept certain harsh treatments those before them used to. Hopefully the family can get some counseling to better the situation.

The mother need to be investigated for child abuse. Normal discipline generally does not force a 9 year old to run away. Question the child please.
