Youth Hospitalised After All Saints Road Crash

All Saints Road CrashAntigua St. John’s - The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a traffic accident early Wednesday morning that caused a 25 year old to be hospitalised.

Gladwin Burton of All Saints is reportedly suffering head and chest injuries as a result of the mishap.

Allegations are that Burton, the owner and driver of a black Honda Accord motor car A76001, was travelling from East to West along the All Saints Road in the vicinity of LICS Ltd, when he apparently lost control of his vehicle.

The car reportedly skidded off the southern side of the road and collided with a flatbed trailer.

Further reports indicate the driver was trapped inside the vehicle for some time while emergency workers worked feverishly using the Jaws-of-Life to free him from the wreckage.

He was rushed to the Mount St. John Medical Center by the Emergency Medical Services complaining of head and chest pain.

The vehicle was extensively damaged. The incident took place around 6:20 am.

Consequences? NONE

I am happy that he is ok but here we go again, speeding, no consequences. When he is released will there be an investigation? Will his license be suspended if found guilty, will he learn NOT to speed whether it is wet or dry.

The answer to all these questions is NO NO NO NO NO and NO.

Until there are serious consequences (fines) for traffic offenses, ABS TV, radio, the public can cry out, appeal and beg until thy kingdom shall come but not one thing will change unless there are consequences!

It makes no sense buying these cars when we do not even have a highway to open up on. u end up having a car that you cant see it's full potential. as soon as i do a 50 on antigua's road, immediately, i think of cows, a kid crossing the street, stray dogs, unforseen potholes or a crater apua left open, a mould of dirt left in the road as soon as u turn the bend. the point is, it makes no sense speeding in our little country.

Please, no one debate with me whether this dude was speeding or not.

im always amazed (not really) that these young men with these (fast little) Honda's always end up off the road wrapped up in a tree .... more road safety should be enforced , specially the big truck ! taxis ! and bus's ! ....
