Antigua St. John’s - The member of the Royal Police Force of Antigua & Barbuda who was remanded to prison last Thursday by the chief magistrate, was granted bail in the All Saints Magistrate’s Court.
The officer appeared before Senior Magistrate Asquith Riviere on Monday and was granted bail in the sum of $20,000 with two sureties and a cash deposit of $5,000.
Meantime, in an unrelated incident, the security officer accused of shooting another man has appeared before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh on Monday.
Corwayne Charles Campbell has been remanded to prison.
He is charged with shooting with intent to commit murder - an offence for which he cannot get bail from a magistrate, possession of gun and possession of two rounds of ammunition.
The 32-year-old Martin’s Village resident is alleged to have shot his co-worker with a .38 caliber gun during an argument at a restaurant and bar at Dickenson Bay on Wednesday, August 15, about 4:30 am.
The victim was rushed to the Mount St John’s Medical Centre (MSJMC) by the Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
He underwent surgery and was warded in a stable condition. His injuries are reportedly not life threatening.
