Boy Kidnapped and Released

Boy Kidnapped and ReleasedAntigua St. John's - Police are investigating a report in which a 12 year-old boy was kidnapped from his parents/grandparents home at about 10 AM yesterday (24 July).

The boy was reportedly left alone after his mother, an attorney-at-law, went off to her legal practice and his grandmother left on an errand.

It was also reported that while at his Fort Road home, a white NOAH Van pulled up outside and snatched the boy.

The boy was later released, unharmed, around the Sand Haven area.

Caribarena has learned that prior to him being abandoned, a ransom demand of an undisclosed sum of money was made to his mother.

When contacted for a response, Stratcom officer senior sergeant William Holder indicated that he is not aware of such a report.

I could not agree more with Gimme a Break!!! Antiguans are so quick to blame others, cast dispersions on non nationals and generally participate in a lot of hate-mongering. Its time to take a look at yourselves and what you teach your children.

Greetings, One Aim, One Truth, One Destiny...
I know that the crime situation in our Nation is NOT funny, but those of us who can recall the hit song, "Bam See" by Lord Funny, is really funny and we had a lot of fun, during those tranquill moments in our Nation, when we would grind/tease each other and say, "a Bam dat, e allways a chat e mout. a wey dem no go mind dem own business...dem nuff see and I am quite sure, that many more of our sayings come to your mind as well...
If she get in a motor car, Bam see
if she go way wid she kip-man, Bam see...
Ok, OH KAY, this was the 1970's, this is 2012 forty plus years ago, and the times have changed, so today, we need to start singing,
every time you see any trouble, pray n tell
our Nation is tired of living in this ya hell...
so when you see a kidnapping, please... pray n tell
the next one might be someone of your kin as well,
so, won't you pray n tell, please pray n tell.
don't worry about been call a damn sketell
just, pray n tell
if he kick her, pray n tell
if she rob him, pray n tell...
DON'T WORRY ABOUT BEEN CALLED A ** OR A SNITCH
STILL, pray N tell...

Idle Hands...?

#12 JB » 2012-07-26 09:19

It is a rather egregious that this type of crime is taking place in our small island state...where everybody know everybody. However, I think this, and many of the other recent seemingly inconceivable criminal activities (at least for Antigua and Barbuda) is an indication that the devil find work for idle hands to do...desperate time call for desperate measures...Thes e type of crimes we heard of in other countries, and once in a decade, if so frequent, in our nation...Now they are 'many and near between'...Have mercy, Lord...what are the preventative measures that are being put in place to deter and counteract these horrors (and I don't mean stiffer penalties)?

2nd Time?

#10 Preacher! » 2012-07-26 07:48

This is the second time in recent memory that we learn of the disappearance kidnapping of a lawyer's child in Antigua...is this crime somehow related to the previous one?

We must all now be more vigilant with our children! Carnival is fast approaching...p lease be more responsible as parents and guardians of our precious ones!

In addition, what happen to the tint removal law? The politicians should be made to follow this law too! They want to hide their nasty habits that's why most persons want to have heavy tints!

"Antigua is no longer immune to outside influences..." What hogwash. ALL, and I repeat, ALL, the major heinous crimes committed in Antigua and Barbuda have been committed by born and bred young Antiguans and Barbudans. Let us stop burying our heads in the sand. This foolish notion that our people cannot commit serious crimes on their own is exactly what it is.....a foolish notion. Computer Center Challenger; Dolly house murder; the Mullany's, the Syrian from Radio Range and the Jamaican woman from Browne's Avenue; the man from Potters who murdered the tourist at Pigeon Point, I can go on and on. All these serious, cold-blooded crimes were committed by young Antiguans and without the help of any "outside influence." We need to talk about the fact that children are being produced by children who themselves were not properly brought up and who do not have a clue as to what is right and wrong. The parents take no interest in child-raising as in the old days and we are now reaping the whirlwind of our loss of morals and the get-rich-quick mentality being emulated by our politicians. Outside influence my foot!!!

...funky vibe...

#7 Jumbee Picknee » 2012-07-25 19:35

I am getting a vibe, that there is:
a...a concerted effort to escalate the crime in Our Nation
b...an organized group is attempting to control the "underworld" of our
Nation
In either case, it could possibly get worst before it's brought under control. The police and other law enforcement agencies have to step up their game, no if's, and's NOR but's, however, NOT at the expense of the law abiding citizen. They got to do, some serious undercover and surveilence work.
I know that, they, law enforcement does not need outside help, but with the crime situation getting out of control, I think that, the Caribbean Law enforcement agencies need to collaborate, especially in the area of undercover and surveilence work.
Because, due to the sizes of the populations, especially in the smaller islands where everyone livelyhood is known, a cop from St.Lucia can easily be used in Antigua and vice-versa. I know, the details would have to be worked out. BUT SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE...
