This is not an opinion,it is like someone promoting blatant wrong and vulgarity, becau se we have freedom of speech,it do not mean we say anything, someth ings are better left unsaid, that is the reason people pay for their mouth in courts,if it is in a persons warped mind, keep it there.

THIS IS BECOMING SICKENING NOW!

#11 ANTIGUAN WOMAN » 2012-07-18 12:00

Someone really needs to get the message across to these young women that the world and all that it has to explore is not running away. They are obviously searching for something which they may be lacking at home, however,th ey need to get it through their skulls that they will not find it by compromising they values/morals,t hey will only be pushed furthur into a world of pain and degradation. And to the older Men who are preying on these vulnerable young women,it is time the law start punishing them according to the crime, they destroy innocent lives, and should be put away for a long long time, while in prison they should be treated like animals, just like they display animal traits by preying on anything that cross their paths. As to the parents of these young women, they should be arrested for child abuse and neglect, what kind of a mother has a 14yr old outside of her home after a certain hrs, this is sick.

Oh Gosh Jack! Ah Nex' One?!

Wha really ah carry on?! Young people going missing in ANU? Antigua too likkle for someone out there not to know something! People must stop being afraid to speak up! Please don't blame the parents for her disappearance. It is not out of the norm for a 14 year old to go out with friends unsupervised by an adult. So, please just hang that one up! Nobody can jus tek up and walk wid a 14 year old! She is not an infant! However, I will say that she may have had bad judgement due to peer pressure and all these things that young people face. It IS the parents' job to enforce a cerfew and ensure that their child checks in with them. We are in the age of cell phones, so there is no excuse. Please put yourselves in the parents' position. They are probably grief stricken and guilt ridden and if for some reason they came on to caribarena for some encouraging words or tips about their daughter's wherabouts they would be driven to insanity with all the negativity. TAP UM! I'm praying for the safe return of this young girl!

Reading these comments I'm amazed at the 'thumbs down' being given to people who are worried about parents/guardia ns leaving young children to go to places unsupervised/wi thout permission etc. Perhaps they feel it's too much hard work or too much responsibility/ whatever but, sorry, that goes with the territory - if you look after or have children then that's just what you should be doing (and maybe that's another issue that needs looking at too). 'Thumbs down' me all you want - it shows up more about you than the majority of us, or let's hear your comments about why you think it's OK to leave kids to fend for themselves...

CRITICAL QUESTIONS

#7 RAWLSTON POMPEY » 2012-07-18 08:02

First to commend "...JUMBEE PICKNEE" who has raised very "...critical questions" pertinent to the issue at hand. This juvenile might just be a "...problem child" in need of inter alia "...Care and Protection; ..proper parental guidance and not necessarily strict, but effective supervision."

With no circumstances surrounding her "...MISSING" must lead to the inevitable- "...speculation s." What did the parent or guardian report of her absence from home?

(1) ...Was she left alone at home and suddenly disappeared?
(2) ...Was she sent on an errand and not returned?
(3) ...Was she sent to Summer school and not returned?
(4) ...Was she allowed to visit other teens/school friends?

THEORETICAL
She may very well have been an "...unruly, disobedient, frustrated child who decided to take "...TIME OUT" and simply "...Ran away from home. Reports of sightings at clearly "...undesirable places" may just have been a factor for her "...unnanounced disappearance" from home.

SERIOUS APPROACH
Caribarena might very well be later informed by Law enforcement that she was picked up off the street or somewhere.

The issue is not that young children go to jam corner - there is nothing wrong with that....of concern is the fact that they are not accompanied by parents or guardians.

we reap, what we sow...

#5 Jumbee Picknee » 2012-07-17 23:05

There is no need to highlight the negatives within our Culture
They stare us directly into our eyes on a daily basis
However, several questions to mind.
1...how could she have went missing on Wed 7/11, yet was seen on Thur 7/12?
2...did she runaway?
3...why did it take a week to hit the media?
4...or is Caribarena slow to report the story?
5...Is a serial kidnapper on the prowl?
6...are we reaping, what we sew or these are just isolated incidences?
Either way, our Culture has a full blown cancer called DIZFUNKTION and it's spreading like **er on a hot brick oven bread or bun.

The Police and military need their presence felt

#4 Bluddy Bloke » 2012-07-17 22:54

It is so sad that within this small society of ours that kids are now going missing. It is so sad that within our small society of ours masked men are so prevalent with their criminal activities. It so sad that in our small society our law makers and law keepers are becoming defeated by these criminals. It is time for us to wakeup and smell the coffee. The police and the military need their presence be felt. They need to be seen patrolling in their vehicles with their siren lights flashing within the communities, 24 x 7 and the public at large need to be a little more vigilant. We need to be our brother's keeper a lot more. Our laws are tooooo lenient with these criminals when they are caught

i agree with the first comment at 14 i couldnt even ask my mother if i could go jam corner. At 14 years old ur your young girl child should be in her. but still all we could do is pray that where ever she is she is safe.

Parents are not Playing their role

#2 College student » 2012-07-17 21:07

You know what is happening to Antiguan society is that instead of parents been a parent to their child they act as their child friend! Am not that old but when I was fourteen I could not leave my parents house say that going jam corner! In addition this happen when you have 15 or 20 year child and the mother is just in their late thirty! Parents need to start be patents and their child or children friends!
