Mother Charged With Attempted Murder Antigua St. John’s - A 65-year-old woman is behind bars facing a charge of attempted murder.

On Monday, police arrested and charged Jasmine Leadette of Bendals for attempting to murder her 42-year-old daughter, who also resides in Bendals.

Leadette allegedly doused Maulene Simon with a flammable substance and then set her ablaze.

The incident reportedly took place last Friday near the home where the mother and daughter both reside.

Simon was rushed to the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre where she is being treated for serious burns to various parts of her body.

The mother of three is reported to be hospitalised in critical condition.

The 65-year–old grandmother may be remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison to await a bail hearing before a judge in the High Court.
