Brothers Shot by Bandits

Brothers Shot by BanditsAntigua St John's - The police are investigating a shooting on Thursday night that left two teenagers nursing gunshot wounds at the Mount St John's Medical Center.

Two brothers, ages 16 and 17, of Central Street, Villa, had reportedly been walking home from basketball practice, near the Anglican church on lower St John's Street, when two masked men came out of an alley dressed in dark clothing and began firing shots.

The younger sibling reportedly received two gunshot wounds to his calf and ankle, while his older brother was shot in his buttocks. They were both taken to the hospital, where doctors reported that the wounds were not life threatening.

The incident occurred at around 9:20 pm on Thursday. The police are continuing their investigations into the matter.

Meanwhile, the police are investigating a break-in where someone broke into a building on Redcliffe Street which housed a law firm and electronic store, and stole a quantity of electronic items.

The alleged incident took place sometime between 7:30 pm on Wednesday, and 8 am Thursday.  The intruders broke into the building and stole over 100 cell phones, 10 laptops, a surveillance recorder, and other electronic devices.

The value of the items was not yet known. The police are continuing their investigations into the matter, and appealed to anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or call Crime Stoppers at 800-Tips (8477).

so sad

Where is the police patrol. Some of these crimes don't make too much sense. There has to be some relations between the gun men and the victims. A gunman is not going to randomly shoot two people and leave the scen with nothing in their hands unless it is a gang initiation. Are there any after school programs established to relate with the younger population? What programs within the school is being developed to stop crime by young people?

Hope the victims have a successful recovery.
