Antigua St John's - Shooting victim Kadeem Lewis died on Tuesday after being fatally wounded on Saturday in Greenbay.

Lewis, 21, had been sitting in a car with his friend when a gunman came up and shot him in the head at close range.

He died just after 6 am in the Intensive Care Unit. His death marked the second homicide for the year.

The police have again appealed for anyone with information on the incident to call the Gray's Farm Police Station at 462-0481/562-6088, or call Crime Stoppers at 800-Tips (8477).

Meanwhile, several people were convicted in the St John's Magistrate’s on Monday on drug related offences.

Lafieama Phillip of Bendals was fined $36,000 for possession of cannabis, possession with intent to transfer, and cultivation. He was ordered to pay $1,200 forthwith on the charge of possession, while the rest of the fine is to be paid by April 30 and May 31 respectively. In default, he will serve two years each on the other two charges.

David Lewis of Bendals was convicted and fined $7,000 on a charge of possession of cannabis. Of this, $5000 was to be paid forthwith, and the balance by April 30, or in default he will spend two years in Her Majesty’s Prison.

Erskine David, 44, of Jolly Hill, Bolans, was convicted and fined $12,000 for possession of cannabis, and cultivation of cannabis.

The Bolans man was fined $6,000 on each charge, to be paid forthwith; or in default serve two years at Her Majesty’s Prison. His sentence is to run concurrently.

The police arrested and charged David after he was found in possession of 26 cannabis plants at Green Castle on Saturday. Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh presided over the cases.
