Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Anthony Armstrong never received the Bob Lindquist report, neither did he pass it on to Police Commissioner Thomas Bennett.
This is the latest revelation in what has been a trail of twists and turns in Caribarena.com’s efforts to locate the report into the IHI debt settlement matter.
Armstrong relayed a message through a member of his staff yesterday following our attempts to speak to him. He said he did not dispatch any such report to the police high command.
Speaking from St Lucia, Commissioner Bennett said it was during a meeting in 2008 that he was given the opportunity to view the document. Even though he could not recall everyone present, he said the DPP was not there.
He remembered, however, that former justice minister Collin Derrick attended, as did Lindquist.
According to an expert police source, the police should have received the report strictly from the DPP, along with the appropriate direction, if necessary, to pursue relevant investigations.
Bennett had told Caribarena.com that to the best of his knowledge, the report was in the hands of a four-member team of police investigators. But a senior member of the team, Inspector Everton Jeffers, subsequently said he has never seen the document.
A Daily Observer story on Tuesday said a special resolution on the Lindquist report will be tabled at a UPP convention to be held next weekend.
When contacted, PRO of the party Winston Henry said he did not know where the Lindquist report is, and further dismissed as ridiculous the idea of the party pushing a resolution for the report to be handed over to the DPP, since “it has nothing to do with party politics, nothing to do with party, so it cannot be on a party agenda.”
“What I am saying to you is that I am not aware that the (Lindquist report) is with the DPP," Henry told Caribarena.com Tuesday night. "I can’t say exactly where it is. I really do not know, so I cannot make any comment as to where it is, but what I can say is that it should not come up as a resolution at a party convention."
He said if such a resolution were allowed to go through, it would have the effect of the party overriding the executive arm of the government on a national issue.

The reporter should contact Lindquist and confirm to whom was the report given and follow the chain of custody. He should also be able to get a copy from Lindquist. If Lindquist refuses to give up the report, then he should be able to go to court to force Lindquist to give up the report.

I am beginning to wonder who is lying, and for what reason. Earlier this week, or late last week, the police commissioner admitted that he had a copy of the report. Now, all of a sudden, nobody is owning up to having the report. This is like sending the fools a little further.
