Stanford Asks for Mistrial

Stanford trialAntigua St John's - R Allen Stanford's defense asked for a mistrial on Friday, but was denied by US District Judge David Hittner.

The jury left the courtroom before defense attorney Ali Fazel told the court the prosecution had thrown a "skunk" in the jury box.

This after suggestions during continued cross examination of auditor Morris  that Stanford's audit records had been destroyed to hide his fraud.

Lets put that WTO "win" in perspective: If the Stanford investors lawsuit is as successful as Antigua's WTO suit (1% of the money sought), it would take 10 years of Antigua's WTO judgement to pay it off.

If the Stanford investors actually win, it will take 1,000 years (not including interest.)

Tell PM BS to accept your WTO settlement. It is Antigua that wants to renegotiate after it "won", not the US.

Yet each and every account in each and every bank was covered by the FDIC and no depositor that stayed within the US$ 250,000 per account limit lose ONE PENNY. The Madoff investors are being paid SIPC insurance up to US$ 500,000 per account and MF Global looks to be a similar case.

Where is Antigua's FSRC to compensate SIB victims???

Just a proof of the unethical government of your country. If they have an extradition agreement with the United States why is that agreement not respected.? Maybe they have something to hide. Leroy was tried and found guilty of wrong doing at his job there in Antigua and was fired. Maybe his wrong doings there are a reflection of his wrongs with Allen Standford.

What is happening about the Leroy King extradition?

The PM said he had written a letter to Leroy King giving him 15 days to appeal the courts decisions, well the 15 days have passed so what are you doing Mr Spencer?

You famously stated that the extradition of Leroy was purely a legal decision made by the courts, then we find out you can overrule the courts decisions!

Just what is happening is this going to end up like the report into the FSRC suppressed due to damning evidence!

wow, that was the laziest reporting I've ever seen.

The witness was Morris Hollander, and he's an accountant. The auditor in question was CAS Hewlett, and what Ali Fazel was calling a "skunk" was actually a huge pile of Knightsoil.

The issue was that CAS Hewlett's daughter destroyed the evidence of the crime, and she should be rotting in jail right now for that. Of course, we all now know what an utter waste of time it is trying to get Antigua to honor its extradition treaty, and GT is probably working on their tree frog impressions in preparation for dealing with this crime against the investors.
